The stars aligned this year on my training. Now I don't have to wonder what could have been last year when I was training in the PP group early in Sept/Oct, showing that sub 7:15 was possible and then got sick 3 times. No flu this year, no injuries and only one vacation (one week) that got in the way.

Ran (for me) nearly the perfect race. Great start, fast but not too fast, held in the middle (just a bit better than expected) and hammed the last 500. Mostly 28/29 throughout.
Soo, thats a big chunk! Congrats!

well done indeed Mike and vindication at last - you really earned that. The great thing about our virtual community is that we all have such an investment/interest in others' performances. Few "outsiders" really understand the achievement and a 2k PB in a race is a mighty one. Nice one from Velo Mark as well this weekend too in similar circumstances.

Thanks all, very kind of all of you. I've worked very, very hard for that 7:11 as you all know! 12 or so years of work (only 3 plus on the rower).

Like you guys said, I couldn't wait to post it up on here. Yeah, people don't realize all the work it takes (except rowers of course) to get to that stage. Though it's not possible right now (with time constraints), in the future, I would like to do OTW rowing I think and try it. I thought I'd won my group yesterday (got second) was was waiting around on my trophy that I never got  . Not all was lost with that wait, I had a few of the guys from the IRC (Indy Rowing Club) tell me of the 9 or so guys in my heat, I had "by far" the best form and that they were shocked I didn't row OTW. I was like, "who me?", because I've always been really hesitant to put a video up on here of my form. I still think it needs quite a bit of work -- it's an ongoing thing for all, but at least, I suppose, knowing my form isn't crap was great to hear. Honestly, better than a trophy for me.

Without this forum (and it's support), I know I wouldn't be this far along in my journey. Two years, now to trim 11 seconds off and race at Crash-Bs when I'm 55. That's the long term goal. Be around 7:00 at 55. Was beginning to doubt that was possible. With this race, it's still a long way off, but not quite as far off.

New PB on race day! I shaved 0.2 sec off my 2K this morning at the Canadian Indoor Rowing Championship!

7:04.6 is my new time... racing is SO exciting!

You can trim off 11 seconds. It will be tough but you've got the time and motivation to exceed your own expectations

Another success story. Loving reading about all of these PBs
!!! Well done Lance.

I'm going to need to restrain myself tomorrow morning and not try for a PB myself!!

Nice Lance and Mike on those 2k !!

Today another one of those days you hit the FM button and you expect to stop after 2 hours rowing. This time I felt as good as you can feel after 2 hours rowing and decided to keep rowing.
Time: 3:07:40. That is 3 mins better than my old PB and 15 mins better than my first FM, 6 months ago. So I'm quite happy about it :)

I'm not a fan of social media and such but I took the idea from Dangercouse and this year I'm uploading the pics on an instagram acount I made just for that.
I'd ask you to like, subscribe and those things people say on internet videos, but since the instagram gods are not paying me my Jamaican vacations if you do, Just don't bother XDDDDD

Here is the pic:

@Mike - well done again, and I agree with Lindsay that you really deserve it. I'll be rooting for you on your path towards 7 minutes!

@Lance - well done Lance. I'm planning to enter at least one race this year (BRIC). I'm not looking forward to the nerves: used to hate OTW rowing from that point of view.
