I commented on Spenger's ISS blog last week. I am a Man of the World. I pickle cucumbers in Dos Equis.

@ Magnus K. Good idea synching the daily effort, Magnus. All on same type of effort on the same day keeps the pressure on to do the assignment with no skipping school. Jack

Did another 10k today @ SPM 22 / 2:04 with an avg. HR of 152 and a max of 168. Speed/HR-relation is still a nightmare but not as bad as the first one.

:D see the uk blog section, but at the moment my training is very boring...... mostly longer and rate 20/22 ut stuff
indoorsports company, below on the right ...... hard to find nowadays..
"Bonafide stud" - wow - thanks! That is a big promotion from "old guy just trying to keep healthy and ahead of the pack."
(mrsh is much impressed too though very doubtful)
The ISS site in the UK has been almost killed by neglect (with a kick along by Facebook) and the blog threads were one of its strengths. The company has made it so slow as to be very frustrating and forcing folks to FB and wordpress and the like and it is withering on the vine.
Henry posts most of his training there and tries to make it sound as boring as possible - most of it is pretty good though as his racing and CTC stuff proves.
(and he lurks everywhere)

Lindsey, the comment was coming from "an aging short fat guy trying to stay WITH the pack!" But seriously, your fitness and power is impressive. I hope to be continuing to improve as you you seem to be able to 10 years hence.

Cycle 2: 8 x 500 r 3:30

1:43.3, SR - 33, ending HR 183. First: 1:45.2, Last 1:41.0

Improvement of 1.5 seconds/500 over Cycle 1.

I tried to keep SR below 34. First 6 were at or below 33. Last two were at 35.

I'm taking the statement as promising the same or more power at a higher rate when the deal goes down. Fine effort, Glenn!

Thanks, my young German friend. The first seven were surprisingly not that hard. The last one was the only one that hurt. I really felt calm and wasn't as nervous as the first time through. My fingers are crossed that this feeling will remain the rest of the cycle!

Jack, I am thinking my strength lies more on the power side of things, so I want to link to that as best I can. I find when I go higher I get out of breath too fast! I also needed something else to look at besides time, so I just stared at the rate and counted out the strokes and then felt the different pressures that related to different paces.

Here' s to full length and hard then. I know you get your go from strong levers not long levers so the horsepower is there and simply a question of management, eh? Jack

I'm out of sync with you folks with regard to the sessions, but I did the speed pyramid earlier this week with an average pace that compared very favorably with 2009. I even accidently shorted myself 1 min of rest after the 1k. So there is hope. An easy 8k after that and this afternoon I will do the 4x2k. There will be no long row OTW this weekend as life is conspiring against training.

I said to someone earlier this week that you have to be in shape to get in shape. In other words, good training and rest allows you to train even harder, hopefully without injuries. That's my goal for the summer: to be in good enough condition to start to train hard in September.

When I try to go at these speeds I don´t seem to have that kind of feeling any more. Too painful and looking like old :x while being at it.
Received the C-Breeze-Application today and installed it. Beta test tomorrow. The thing looks like it will work but given the size/amount of nylon-type fabric its totally overprized in my humble opinion.
