Wow. How can you even bring yourself to row over an hour! AmazingDangerscouse wrote:I managed to knock off 10 mins off my 75km PB. It's now 5:29:15 and was 5:39:42.
I guess I have set an 85km PB too, which was 6:23:15 (not got.to 85km before) but it should have been a 100km distance so it's a bit of a frustration. 'Dr Google' is telling me it's exercise induced asthma due to the Air con at the gym being too cold and me rowing too far, which leaves me with a tight chest and wheezy breathing. Going to the doctors on Monday morning

Hahaha thanks Scott. I hardly ever row for less than an hour these days. It is mainly due to my charity event but I do enjoy a one hour session, 16km or HM before work.
I doubt I will do many more of these stupidly long distances after 20th Dec, but never say never.

Just finished up at the Welsh Indoor rowing championships.
Managed to get a 500m PB of 1:17.8.
That was good enough for 3rd!
Very high quality race, I think the winner got 1:17.1

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Got on the erg a couple weeks ago intending to pull a SS 10k at about 2:00/500m pace. When I first started pulling it felt so easy at first I thought there was something wrong with the gym erg (I knew it had been broken fairly recently). It felt so easy that I thought I would go for a PB, thinking my previous PB was about 39:38 and I might be able to get under 38:00 the way things felt at first.
Well, the erg eventually reminded me it was working fine and in the last 4000m I really dropped the pace, putting in an overall 38:57. Eventually when I got home to log the time I realised that my PB was actually 38:55 - so I could have probably beaten it that day!
Well tonight I got on the erg, knowing what my PB was this time and knocked about 23s off it to come in at 38:32.0. Felt good!
Nicely that puts my 10k time at the 81st percentile for my age/weight, which is also where my 2k and 5k times rank. I know my place!

Thanks, I will probably try and go for the 100m and 1 minute British records before Christmas then try and improve my horrible 1k and 2k times in the new year.

Should be "easy", but being a good sprinter is perfectly fine. Sub 1.15 500 should be possible if you keep working.JMac wrote:hjs wrote:Very nice, also with the race start delay. Keep working, you have great potential.JMac wrote:Just finished up at the Welsh Indoor rowing championships.

Thanks. I haven't seen the race data yet, but my rating for 500 is usually 40-45. I think I had drag set to 8, so probably around 190.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
It's been a while since I posted on this thread, but I am glad to report a new 5k PB!
5000m 18:58.3 @1:53.8 r25
This is exactly what I had hoped to get so I am very happy! Paced it like: 1:55 for 2000m, 1:54 for 1500m, 1:53 for 1000m and 1:52 for 500m. Obviously this wasnt the exact pacing but it was on a club erg so I don't know the exact splits.
Hesitant to use this to predict a 2k as last time I was disappointed by the result. Maybe I was over optimistic for my 2k or maybe I just wasn't fit enough/mentally prepared. Anyway I hope this predicts a sub 7:10 2k.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Well done Scott. Neg splitting is important as well as getting the PB. How did it feel when you finished? Did you empty the tanks or have more to give?
When are you trying for the 2k PB? I think you should try fairly soon to ride on the crest of the confidence wave that you have got going right now.

Felt like I'd pretty much emptied the tanks. It was hard but definitely worth it. As for the 2k I have no idea I know predictions don't mean anything but it is nice to have a fast one. I don't want to do a PB attempt outside of the club. Probably after Christmas now.Dangerscouse wrote:Well done Scott. Neg splitting is important as well as getting the PB.
