Sorry for all the quoting at the moment! Awesome session sir! Not bad to be futzing with technique while doing it too.JohnAd wrote:Wk2 Day 2 8000m strapless 2:08

Those numbers make it look like a much more controlled session than it was, very heavy legs today and was starting to have HD thoughts after 2nd rep. Tried experimenting with a more "strapless" technique, fast hands, higher rate etc but the pace just went up and I couldn't sustain it and slowing down seemed to mean bad habits coming back, more technique work required I think as it did feel better if I can control the rate a bit better.

Glenn, I have that old snake suspicion in the old snake brain that slithering real quick can help one split the old skin making room for growing into a larger skin.
Think you called it " getting used to the new you" in an earlier results post mortem.

Better than seven women on your mind, Gordon? Four that want to own you, two that want to stone you, only friendly face in the rest periods?

It does require a little more wind, which I think one could get used to. At the moment I am compelled to pull 20 or so at lower rates every now and again just to reset and not let the rate get too racy and to take some deeper and slower breaths. But heck, its better than HD'ing!jackarabit wrote:Glenn, I have that old snake suspicion in the old snake brain that slithering real quick can help one split the old skin making room for growing into a larger skin.

Wk 2: hard distance
6k
Pace target: 2:10 (from recent 5k)
2k WP, 2500 CD
df 115
Lucy, you got some [more] splaynin to do!--Ricky Riccardo
Meter munchers, of which I am unabashedly one, seldom do 6k because as you get faster you just finish sooner, whereas with 30' getting faster means more meters. My neglected 6k PB from 2014 was old and dingy and Ethel said I would look so nice in a new one and it didn't cost much and I thought you would like it--Oh Ricky!

Missed your goal by one tenth, Jack! Just kidding, well done indeed. 6K was the order of the day I suppose.

@Gordon - Metallica all day everyday! I'm 36 and they were the soundtrack to my rebellious years!
Pete's Plan Day 3
My goal was to abide by Pete's direction and not go out too fast and to try and equal my results from Day 1.
I failed....
Day 1: 5k - 22:15.9 23s/m 500m split at 2:13.5
Today: 5k 21:42.6 23s/m 500m split 210.2
I freaking destroyed my previous PB. I know it was a personal best because I have never rowed without stopping before. Today I ate right and slept 8 hours last night. With 1k to go I kicked it up a notch and pulled my split time down from the 2:12's to 2:10.2. Felt great!

That's a sweet feeling when the barn is in site and you can step on the gas a little, eh! Well done Joseph!

@joseph - fantastic result. That's got me worried for my 5k tomorrow. Legs feel very tired tonight after the 500m intervals.
I'm 59 so my rebellious youth was much earlier and you will probably streak ahead on the PP. Mind you, I've now become a rebellious old bastard so you never know.......

Nice improvement Joseph! You are definitely underway flags flying. Carry that up to 5500m next week.

Mike thanks for your fantastic invitation to the group but I'm not ready for 6 hard days of training per week at the moment. I think the Pete beginner guide is the right place for me at the moment.

Kxthor, Pete Beginner (3 days and two additional days optional) is what Gordon, Joseph, and Goldenbarry are doing. That is what you'll be doing if you join in, what you'll be doing if you don't. If you choose, you have mates ready to hand waiting. But you're free to decline, of course.
