1:41.7 @ 29
1:42.0 @ 29
1:42.1 @ 29
1:42.8 @ 30
1:39.8 @ 34

I don't think there was much more left to be had. Pretty happy with my pacing, could barely stand at the end as my legs were so dead. Cardiorespiratory felt reasonably OK. It's a 3.2sec improvement over my last one, so whereas I might be able to shave a few tenths off if I go again, I'm pretty happy with that and will probably leave it now for a few months.
Very nice improvement :) Do you follow any specific program?

Congrats, promising rows, to really get fast start working on your power, for shorter work thats the limiting factor.
Sub 3 is a nice first goal.

I have actually decided to train according to Pete plan for some months now and see how that goes.

Should help you given your current training. Its aimed at 2k improvement on the shorter term.

Nice! Not sure I could beat that right now. My shorter PBs from 10 years ago are proving stubbornly difficult to beat, the longer ones not so. I think you are the opposite in that, right now, you are relatively stronger at the shorter stuff?

New all-time PB for 30mins recorded earlier today. Logged and verified. This beats my previous PB (from 28/02/2006!!!) albeit only by 8m. It's still satisfying though. I've felt my form has inched up a bit with a consistent ~5hrs/week of training of erging/cycling since I set a SB of 8106m and then 8108m a few days later about 2 months ago. I started quickly as always and then refused to let the average go above 1:51.5/500m and then sped up with 1000m to go and emptied the tanks with 500m to go. Not optimal pacing I know in theory but I do find this easier than holding a fairly flat pace...probably because that might yield a better distance. Anyway...I'm pleased as I haven't done much on the erg I am truly happy with most recently. Erg on!

Yes, thankyou. Doesn't make one feel quite as old...as I'm constantly reminded of by my younger, better half!!

The first 6' gave you something worth conserving and you drilled it down when you saw the barn, Gammmo. If you slice it in halves, how does that execution compare front to back with a 40/60% effort TT on the monkey bike? Congrats. The yrs. gave been kind! Or, you're a gammmmer.

Thankyou. I suppose the yrs might appear to have been kind but lots of factors. Suspect I'm more highly trained now from an aerobic standpoint (6 seasons of time trial racing 2010-2015 in between) although my "baseline" and not "actual" vo2max has probably declined somewhat due to age. I was definitely heavier then and arguably a bit stronger.

With TT the brief starting effort and longer finishing effort is usually stronger just as with erging BUT the crucial difference is TT is subject to weather conditions and course topography. A headwind or mainly uphill part of a course usually warrants a higher level of effort compared with the final average, and vice-versa i.e. you employ a variable pacing strategy. So, the split % will vary for optimal pacing, that said it takes skill and courage to employ this and it's easy to get it wrong!

"barn/monkeybike/gammmmer"? :)

Barn: sided and roofed structure found on farms; typically storage for hay and grain feed stocks and shelter for livestock such as horses, dairy and beef cattle.

See the barn: to be in range of one's home, destinatiom. Horses are usually said to "smell" the barn.

Gammmmer. A Gammmmo who accepts the challenges and risks of this sporting life.

Monkey bike: my name for the generality of TT and triathlon bikes sporting aerobars.
