Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Thanks Gammo and Henry. Good advice both. I'm actually slightly less manic about 7:00 than I used to be but still want to snag it and move on. Might as well do it while the iron is still warm and take advantage of doing it on my own schedule - when the day feels right. Quite funny about strapless Henry! I was thinking about putting a chair or similar behind me at 1:00 range and trying to touch my back to it to get the feel of actually going back to it.

Was thinking the same, sort of cord to touch between 2 chairs.G-dub wrote:Thanks Gammo and Henry. Good advice both. Re 6.xx, you are so close, and want it, its not important in the bigger picture. But still, you want and you can. You are so close, I think you should just do it.
Re strapless, I have the same a bit, it does not help me anymore. You at last get the rate up, which is my problem, stroke is strong enough, but can,t rate up, and I am not overly tall.

When you get it and you will, it will become your new standard. Every time you fall short in the future, you will be an unhappy camper. That's how it works.G-dub wrote:I'm actually slightly less manic about 7:00 than I used to be but still want to snag it and move on.

Meanwhile, back in the realm of mere mortals
5,000m / 20:59.7 / 2:05.9
Average Watts 175
Calories Per Hour 901
Stroke Rate 20
Stroke Count 431
Drag Factor 120
Ave HR 128 / Max HR 144 - That's only just UT1 for me but felt a lot harder.
I know, but it's a big-ish deal for me OK

Nicely done, Graham.
That's some trick scoring PRs with such a stately hr. I'm sure it hurt but something splendidly gentlemanly about that.
Great to be in the 20s.

Thankyou all!
I'm kind of used to that sedate SR as I've been following advice and trying to row slow and strong over 5k since I started, so I kind of just settled into it. In the last 2k I was panting like a fat dog in a sauna which is why I am puzzled by my HR (measured with chest Tickr), I though it should be higher than that - maybe my heart's reassuringly strong?
Now I can work on that time and try to up the rate a bit.
The sub 2 min/500m over anything more than 5 strokes is still eluding me.

Congrats, you could do some faster 1 min rows after/around your main sessions, nothing special, but with more rate.Kafka wrote:Thankyou all!

Low rate training is not meant to use during free rate work.
If you always use a certain rate, your body gets more or less stuck there.
