Does this mean you are officially starting sharpening?

You mean complete with cheering crowds, marching bands, balloons and party hats, ground-breaking ceremonies, invited dignitaries, solemn oaths, and well-wishing prayers of God speed?

Ummm.

Got me.

I just thought it might be wise to start doing a lot rowing at 36 spm, just to get a feel for it.

Nothing serious yet.

I did some this morning.

When will you start your "sharpening" phase?

Still not quite to JL standards though, and I'm pretty sure you couldn't get close to 20 if you actually do "full" reps. You did about 2 actual full reps in that video, the rest you barely moved vertically. Still it's not an easy thing to do.

As for your weight- I'm 5'6" and 12% body fat and weigh in at 155lbs. You are 5" taller and bigger through the shoulders and upper back, so I just don't see someone of your size making 165 unless you're severely dehydrated.
I was just illustrating that I can do them, not how many I could do or in what form.

I have made weight about 25 times now over the last 10 years.

Same body, so same result.

I made weight at all of the five race venues that I went to last year.

I'll probably lose about 10 pounds by the end of January and my first race.

Given the amount of physical work I do, if I watch what I eat, even slightly, I lose weight hand over fist.

Rich
You must be a right fat tw** if you can drop 10 lbs despite hours a day of training!
You forgot to answer my question which I have asked many times and you have evaded, that is what is your weight pre work out, ie not after sweating down for hours?
25 times making weight in 10 years isnt a great result is it ?
Cheers

I don't knw.

It's probably about five times as many times as Rocket Roy has made weight.

You do what you have to do.

You do the best you can with what you have.

Making weight for me, I suppose, is like pulling 12 SPI in a 2K for you.

How many times have you done it?

Point made.

You win by trying to overcome your own weaknesses, whatever they might be, not by mistrepresenting how often others have--repeatedly--overcome theirs.

As soon as possible.

Six weeks until WIRC, a month to my first race.

As I said, I will now do a lot of rowing at 36 spm, working this up to race pace 500s, 1:34 @ 36 spm.

I can do 20 race pace 500s (paddle a 500m in between).

HR should return to about 120 bpm between intervals.
