The formula was very off for me. At least when I was actually fit. Havnt hit mhr in a long time. I think it’s a good guideline for beginners but once you have some experience just do a step test or a long test and a sprint at the end. That’s what got mine. End of a step test under lab conditions(benefit of doing a sports science course :D running and increasing pace every 2 mins. Can’t remember specifics but got 213at 19 yo. Hit above 210 in something or other every year up until the past few years. Don’t think my muscles are physically capable of getting my heart under enough stress to reach mhr currently but that’s just a feeling. Not sure on the science behind that feeling :lol:
