Still yet, there are shorter rowers with success. There's a guy named Andrew Campbell at Harvard that's 5' 10" and like 155 lbs and rowed a 6:19 or something like that at the Crash-Bs a few years back and now he's an Olympic hopeful. If he can row a 6:19 at 5'10" and that weight, there is hope for you if you work hard enough to get under a 7.
thanks man. that actually gives me so much damn hope!! its just a matter of making up the lost 6-8 inches with strength and fitness i guess :/

Can I add technique to that as well.
Please listen to your body I am no medical expert but if you can't erg because it's too painful with your back then you should think carefully about that and think about getting further professional advice. You have an long life to live and it would be unfortunate to cause a problem now that will always be with you.
Piers 53m was 73Kg 175cm to 2019 now 78kg
