Hello All. Today I finished off my season with two 10k steady state sessions - one before breakfast, one just now at lunchtime.

Code: Select all

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	S/M	HR
41:35.7	10,000	2:04.7	180	20	131
8:19.9	2,000	2:04.9	179	20	133
8:19.4	4,000	2:04.8	180	20	129
8:19.3	6,000	2:04.8	180	20	130
8:18.5	8,000	2:04.6	181	20	132
8:18.6	10,000	2:04.6	181	20	132

Time	Meters	Pace	Watts	S/M	HR
41:20.1	10,000	2:04.0	184	20	134
8:16.0	2,000	2:04.0	184	20	131
8:16.0	4,000	2:04.0	184	20	132
8:16.0	6,000	2:04.0	184	20	134
8:16.0	8,000	2:04.0	184	20	136
8:16.1	10,000	2:04.0	183	20	137
This morning's steady state was unusually inconsistent for me, and I just slightly misjudged the last split of this afternoon's workout :D

Season total 4,185,357 rowerg, plus 423,603 on the water in a single. Whilst I don't post regularly here I do lurk, and I enjoy reading about everyone's training - well done to everybody for every metre rowed, regardless of total!

That's a lot of metres Stu, double mine for this season. What's your plan now you have or should have a good aerobic base?

Have you set a whole list of ranked 50s PBs yet?
No, I haven't yet, and now my confidence / desire to suffer is also improving, I'll start to knock off some new PBs. I've got to forget about my all time PBs, and recalibrate expectations, as I think that's been really counter productive.

That's a great season, and very consistent pacing for a distance session

Not been on the erg since last Friday. Had our Grandson to stay from early Sunday morning to this morning, it's great having him but good to hand him back!!

So just a 40r20 to end the season.

40:00.0 9,761 2:02.9 188 948 20 132

40:00.0 976 2:02.9 188 948 20 144

Not even 120k this month and under 1.8m for the season. Managed to set one British Record (since broken) but didn't achieve what I set out to do. Will put some early ranking pieces in to see what can be achieved next season.

Forgetting all about all time PBs is easier said than done. I still ponder over mine 20 years on

I knew this session would be horrible before I even started today... poor sleep, poor fuel and poor fluids and it felt as horrible as I expected from the first stroke.

However I spent longer on my initial sitting, back to my sit bone adjustments at the catch not the finish, and very consciously reduced my leg bend + dropped the feet a notch again. Zero tingles in my right leg today - so with how things have been I take that as a win.

odd distance was to round up the season to 685k

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
38:11.4 8,471 2:15.2 141 786 19 164
7:37.1 1,700 2:14.4 144 795 19 152
7:38.4 3,400 2:14.8 143 791 20 163
7:44.2 5,100 2:16.5 138 773 20 166
7:40.0 6,800 2:15.2 141 786 20 168
7:31.7 8,471 2:15.1 142 787 20 171

Total distance was down on the last two years, (750k, 925k) and exactly 20k per month less than last year. (but i think almost all that was in March where I did the bulk of my marathon prep long rows + the silly short October I had due to illness this year)

average pace however has dropped from 2:31.2 -> 2:15.8 -> 2:12.1 this year, so I have at least made up for the reduced distance by going quicker.

Next season I really do need to have a crack at 1hr and HM and aim to set something close to my current predicted pace
