No, I mean that training determines racing--absolutely.

Preparing for races is a disastrous waste of time, ruinous to the best training.

If you train well, you race well.

So there is no reason to worry about it.

Just get out there and race, and your training will take care of the rest.

NB

My training has been perfect--and will continue to be perfect for the rest of my life.

You could have 2 guys with almost identical training. At the final sprint who wins? It's the guy with the most guts. Somebody wins, somebody is second, and somebody else handles down.

Training does not determine racing--absolutely.

If I continue this training, I think I'll pull an at-home, 6:28 2K by the end of the month.

1:37 @ 34 spm (11.3 SPI).

Ranger, you wrote this on Sept. 19, 2009 at the start of this long but amusing thread. Did you ever make the 6:28 in Sept.??

That prediction was made 4 months ago and lest we all forget "... I'M MUCH BETTER THAN THAT NOW."

I'm a bit confused you now state you don't care what you row in Indianapolis.
Hey dude, a bit of humility goes a long way. I do not doubt you are in prime shape for your age and you are in all probability trying to hold on to your youth. Thats wonderful but how about some humble pie?

Time marches on like it or not!!

Maybe you are a good or possibly great rower, maybe you can still get it up and go for an hour in bed, maybe you have low body fat. One thing is not a maybe: you are a self inflating braggard who likes to hear himself. I have never seen any other poster, one this or any other forum post multiple messages consecutively as you do without waiting for a reply. When is your birthday? I'll buy you a nice big mirror so you can fully appreciate yourself.

I am _really_ losing weight quickly now.

Clearly, it's the diet that's doing it, given how much I do physically.

At this rate, it looks like I could be heading toward my high school weight (155 lbs.) or even below (150 lbs.) by the end of February.

150 lbs. would be 5% body fat.

I could be losing a pound a day now.

I have no trouble with doing three hours a day on my bike (60 miles).

Rivers of sweat!

I drown the place.

Training does not determine racing--absolutely.
The guy who trains hard develops guts.

The guy who doesn't, doesn't.

So training determines racing--absolutely.

No two people have identical training.

In age-group erging, especially, training differs wildly from person to person, in every aspect imaginable--quantity, quality, relation, and manner.

On the average, Mike VB does about a half an hour of training a day.

I do four hours.

In his erging, Mike does almost exclusively sprinting and resting.

I do just the opposite--foundational training (pulling hard at low rates) and distance rowing, with no resting.

I cross-train--extensively, two to three hours a day.

Mike does no cross-training at all, other than a little pilates work on his core and various physical chores associated with daily life.

When I row naturally, I pull around 12 SPI.

Mike pulls around 10 SPI.

It must be wonderful to have such a firm grip on training and life in general. I'm sick with envy.

You mean, after spending four hours a day at it for the past 10 years?

Yea, it was a cinch.

Only 70 million meters of sweat.

For once you are right, in this you are both crap
It's really beyond me how the both of you can train so much and still build up so much lard in the summer.

It has a good thing though, people with a slow metabolisch often reach high ages.

I'm not a foolish naysayer it's just that you never seem to answer a question like the one I posed. Did you row a 6:28 in Sept 2009? If not thats OK. I think what really gets me is you say you will do sos and so but never do. Not attaining a goal is human why can you not admit to being human?? First you claim you will row a record in Indianapolis and than you post that it doesnt matter what you do there?? Help me out on this one.

In terms of erging I dont know may ass from my elbow and admit on this forum. I am not too proud or vain to seek guidance from more accomplished ergers. Are you perfect or just stubborn, vain, conceited, sanctimonious, self aggrandizing, full of crap etc.

I cannot wait for you to just say"... hey my erging is coming along quite well. I will try to acheive the following goals... Hope I can get there anyone have input as to how I can improve?"

Let's face it Rich, even the best athletes in every sport know to man have coaches to help them acheive their dreams. Why do you refuse to seek guidance from others??

This is not a flame I'm just trying to get a handle on your thought processes.

J
