Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
A bit late to the party, but that is an incredibly impressive 10k indeed, congrats!
I pulled my first 2k test yesterday since college (2011) - came away with a PR, so very pleased with it.
6:24.9
31 spm
My goal is to break 6:20 at Crash-B's, so it would seem I'm on the right track, especially since I've done almost no speed work to this point.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Oh my, 4 days away and I miss a splendid piece. A 1:45/1:46-pace is near 7min-2k, 5 in a row. Astonishing job, strapless and all. Congratulations Henry!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Easy to miss Terry, its not that I often post stuff about my, often boring, training. Cheers thoughWombat63 wrote:Don't know how I missed that fantastic row Henry.......Great effort!!!!
Nice work on the 2k Armando..

Re strapless, I do most meters that way, on longer work the difference with strapped in is not big anymore. It prevents overextending low rate work though, something I find not very usefull.
Shorter stuff is a different matter, did the current ctc twice, unstrapped and normal. 4.3 seconds difference.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Does anyone have a video of hard strapless rowing?
I can't even imagine how you do it.
Are feet strapped (shod) in most boats?

Practice at increasing rates.Balkan boy wrote:Does anyone have a video of hard strapless rowing?

Yes, but you can't compare erging and rowing. Rowing is far more complex and the requirements are different.

Hello!
New to the forum, but have been on the erg for a little over a year. Love reading the training threads & hearing about everyone's training plans & race strategies.
Scored a new 2K PR this morning: 6:39.7. Aiming to be in the low 6:30's in Boston in February...on the march!
Now I'm looking forward to that celebratory beer in my fridge with the 6:39 post-it stuck on it...

Still hitting PBs 6 years on? That means hard work.hjs wrote:Not often I can post here, and 100% pure it isn,t but still.
Did a 10K TT trial today. Strapless, drag 125
Got a best since jan 2009
Today was 35.14.2
I erged in the rain, and the last 2k was in very hard rain/hail and stormy wind![]()
And look at that final 2k split (1:44.6 after a 1:46.8) ! Awesome job, Henry!

Indeed, otw work is much more technique. Although to be fast you need to be very fit ofcourse. The best ergers are top otw people.Bob S. wrote:Practice at increasing rates.Balkan boy wrote:Does anyone have a video of hard strapless rowing?

I don,t do much higher rated strapless work though, above 26 is never comfortable.
If you can,t row row strapless at a decent speed, ones technique is not good and the stroke is not fully finished.
Damian very nice congrats, will proberly try an hour myself the next weeks, you are upping my minimal goal

Think 10k plus 2 2.5 is possible.
