Will ranger be there? No.
For good reason.

I am not a college kid, Mike.

I have a job.

Apparently, you don't.

If Mike just sends in his time to C2 with proof that it is a race result, C2 will change the result from IND_V to RACE.

It only takes a minute to do.

The people at C2 are prompt in responding and happy to do it for you.

ranger
And what of substance changes? Mike's time stays the same, where he did it stays the same, the fact that C2 know about it (as they are involved in the CRASH-Bs) stays the same, the fact that he's the world champion and you're not stays the same. And, of course, what I said remains true.

Go on then. Do it now, show us a sub-6:40 2k. Or any other regulation distance. Just do it.

Haha, something you failed to do in the last race.

Brilliant.

And before you start with your multiple questions on MY 2K time, at least I CAN row from 2,000 to 0 in one go.

I have no interest in pulling 6:50 on the erg.

I have pulled 6:30 or under a haf a dozen times, and now I am trying to develop the skills to improve on that.

That's just my intention and just the challenge.

No schedule or urgency to this racing, though.

The goal is just to race all of the distances by the end of April.

I am now getting fully trained for distance trails.

That's the most pressing issue at the moment.

I will be getting around to some hard sharpening that will prepare me more adequately for 2K, too, though.

Then, when I have that preparation, I will race 2K.

The onus is on Mike, not me.

I still have all sorts of potential to develop, and will be _waaaay_ better over 2K at the end of April than I am now, but Mike's 2K times started to decline in January and, even so, he is _waaaay_ behind.

RANKING RESULTS 2010
Indoor Rower | Individual and Race Results | 2000m | Men's | Lightweight | Custom Age Range (55–59) | Current 2010 Season

You are number 1 of 101

1 Rich Cureton 59 Ann Arbor MI USA 6:41.4 RACE
2 Michael van Beuren 57 Hartland VT USA 6:47.6 IND_V

Time for Mike to pony up.

I'll be interested to see what he can do to save face.

No, actually, Mike, you are much further behind me at distances besides 2K than you are at 2K.

You do indeed have some ranked times.

But the slow times you have recorded are very clear:

You have wasted your training (your opportunity to get better) by racing it.

Bad decision.

To each his own, I guess.

I have been training, making the most of my opportunities to get better, rather than racing, which just makes you worse.

Much better decision, as you soon will see.

Yep.

Just a much as you are, Mike.

I suspect I will put in more meters OTW than you do this year.

Your pretentious belief that only you know how to row OTW and no one else can learn, although typical of the elite, cliquish world of rowing, is ridiculously snobbish and therefore wrong.

See you at the Nationals, and at the Head of the Charles.

Actually the onus is on you. I've done over 2,000km on-road biking this year, and you've done none. Time's ticking away, ranger - how much further behind were you planning on getting?

ranger has gotten snarky and defensive. His failure to perform as predicted is eating at him as never before, and he's propping his filamentous ego on earlier performances and utterly nonsensical statements about otw results to be achieved in the future.

Even the emperor is troubled by his own nakedness.

But in one way, he remains in control because he can always say, this thread is about ME, ME, ME, the only subject that matters.

60s lightweights are just not that strong and quick.

No top end speed.

I think I can still do 500m in 1:24, as some other 50s lwts can.

For most rowers, by the time they are 60, they have lost this strength and quickness.

RANKING RESULTS 2010

Indoor Rower | Individual and Race Results | 500m | Men's | Lightweight | Ages 60-69 | Current 2010 Season

The 60s lwt 500m WR is 1:29.9

I keep thinking that Cureton will branch out of his tunnel vision focus on the minor 2k erg contest, East Jesus category.
I've been proven wrong.

As far as this 2k erging goes: I had hoped to meet ranger at a major race like CrashB... but he doesn't show.
Guess he can't prepare for the big ones. Now I'll have to wait 2 years before I get to meet him again a Championship.
By that time it's nearly a lock that I'll be faster than him at the rate he's slowing down....

It could have been a great rivalry... like that between Rocket and me ... these last years.

Too bad ranger has a yellow streak a mile wide tatooed down his back

I admire Rich's attempt to get people angry by insulting them... (hence this 'tribute' response)
The trouble with his venomous remarks is that the number speaks for themselves.

Funny that Rich brings up my inability to excel in rowing events... "the onus" being on me.

TIme to recount what I actually do:
In the races I've rowed in the last year here are my age group results:

May '09
Mayor's Cup 1x... 1st
Black Fly 6k...... 1st

June '09
Derby S&S 1x..... 1st
Derby S&S 2x..... 1st
Derby S&S mixed 2x ... 1st

July '09
Providence S&S 1x... 2nd
Cromwell Cup 1x..... 1st
Cromwell Cup 2x..... 1st
Diamond States 1x... 1st
Diamond States mixed 2x... 4th

August '09
Masters Nationals hwt 1x.... 1st
masters Nationals lwt 1x.... 1st
Masters Nationals hwt 4x.... 3rd
Masters Nationals lwt 2x.... 3rd
Masters nationals hwt 2x... 4th

September '09
GMS Challenge hwt 50-59 (as a lwt) 9.5k ...1x... 1st
Textile Regatta hwt 50-50(as a lwt) 4+K ... 1X ... 1st

January '10
yankeerrunner's race 2k erg......... 1st lwt
CRASH-B 2k erg....................... 1st 55-59 lwt (Hammer)

(I didn't leave out anything.. I don't DNF like ranger does)

I am the National 1x hwt and lwt Champ at 1k OTW for the 55-59 men groups
I am the World Champion on the erg for the 55-59 lights...

What titles of similar stature do you hold, Rich?
What's your complete record over this time Rich?
2 wins in 5 attempts? Where there were no other people in your group to race on days when you felt like completing the piece

Have you ever made it to a single start line on the water? ....No.
Have you ever reported any time trial at any distance other than 2k on either the erg or the water? ...No.

Well, I guess this makes you far superior to me... in the unattempted/unknown division :P

Rich: So...I've got the onus... Your signature word begin with a different vowel. :D ... and it seems to be on fire these days

Mike,

Get you head out of your ass. I mean that in the nicest way.

You don't have to justify your performance. Your performance speaks for itself. So does Ranger's, of course, but not in the way he wants us to think.

Why you engage with him is a mystery. That's your choice, but jesus man, don't try to explain yourself to that jackass.

You're very right, Tom.

To justify myself to you: I was hoping to lure him out of his cave just to see what he can do on the water or against me at an erg regatta face-to-face...
...but the way things have shaped up... It's not going to happen...

I'm out of here... though I will glance at the Rankings from time to time to see what's up...
I have no illusions though; Even if all of us, here today, go silent: the Ranker-Wok will find new victims...

The weather has turned absolutely beautiful down here in Florida. WInd is up for this PM but I should get a couple more days of great sculling before I return north to my coaching job mid March...
