If your Model B has a PM2 monitor you press [OK ] and [Rest] and the drag factor will appear in the lower right corner, same place where HR shows if you're wearing a HR Monitor cabled to the PM2. HR will override the drag factor display. As for how to set drag factor on a model B, I really don't remember. It's been years since I used one and I don't think it was an option to see it.
You need to pull about 10 strokes to get it to stablize. If you have the Speed Wheel covering the right side of the cage, you can adjust the openings to raise or lower the drag factor. Also shifting the chain between smaller wheel and larger wheel can affect drag. Nevertheless, at least on my Model B, I can't get the drag factor below 125. And it's hard to nuance the drag to say 130-135 without the vibrations from the cage shifting the openings as you row, or reading different the next time you row.

Technically the drag is not effected by the which cog the chain is on, the drag is determined by how slowly the fly wheel slows down. Changing the cog does effect the feel. Lowering the drag is analogous to changing to a sleeker faster boad. Changing the cog to a smaller one is analogous to using longer oars and larger blades.TabbRows wrote:

Never had trouble with the opening shifting on my model B. You can also put duct tape over teh top of the cage to lower the drag more.TabbRows wrote:
