No, none of the above.
I can't understand why anyone would want to exercise in a gym, even if you were time poor and the weather was lousy. There's no substitute for getting involved in a real sport in the great outdoors.

If you want to get super fit and enjoy it try the following equipment:

1) "Fischer" XC Skating Skis
2) "Sykes" or "Hudson" Rowing Boat
3) "Trek" Bicycle
4) "Sherrin" Aussie Rules Football
5) "Molten" Leather Basketball

Gyms are for Rats and all the electronic monitors you find in them are just a distraction for the pretenders you find in them.

A rowing machine would be way down the list and it wouldn't be a stationary erg anyway. It would be one of the three different brands of dynamic ergs.
PBs: 2K 6:13.4, 5K 16:32, 6K 19:55, 10K 33:49, 30min 8849m, 60min 17,309m
Caution: Static C2 ergs can ruin your technique and timing for rowing in a boat.
The best thing I ever did to improve my rowing was to sell my C2 and get a Rowperfect.

I'd go with the rower.

As said, a great body requires low body fat. That can be achieved without high cardio, but will require severe dieting. A rower will improve body shape, but other exercises are required to develop pecs, but these can be push ups and not require additional machines, that said, muscles will grow faster with weights, it is just that you will need to eat a lot and they will not be impressively displayed hence the need for cardio &/or dieting.
