I tend to pull quite naturally to my sternum. Lower would be difficult as, when rowing, my sternum and abdomen areas are one and the same - I'm weird like thatHigher could be a possibility, but I'm not a fan of the 'high pull' some use - in fact I find it difficult to execute. I think I might just put up with it.

Re: Whacking heart rate sensor with handle
I occasionally bash my h10 too - it's coped fine with the abuse so far; I just ease off the arms a bit when it happens.
Normally for me it's a sign I'm pulling too hard and not I should stop it!

Do you know what your stroke length is?hikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 14th, 2024, 12:14 pmActually, I think I lean back a bit too much. I bought a new all in one a few months back which had some dodgy stitching in the sacrum area. This has resulted in some soreness, which I think is exacerbated by my pronounced leanback. I've been given some antibiotic cream for the aforementioned.

Personally, I would ditch that new all in one. Pressure + friction + moisture add up to a fertile environment for ulcer formation. Hope your condition improves.hikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 14th, 2024, 12:14 pmI bought a new all in one a few months back which had some dodgy stitching in the sacrum area. Agreed, anything that causes an infection is really not worth the hassle.

It was only that particular all in one that caused an issue. My other two are fine.Dangerscouse wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 1:46 amAgreed, anything that causes an infection is really not worth the hassle.

Same. Just rowing shorts, crew stops & KSOs. Year round.
Is the guilty all-in-one made of a different material than the other two?hikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 5:36 amIt was only that particular all in one that caused an issue. My other two are fine.

Re: Whacking heart rate sensor with handle
No, they're all stretchy Lycra type stuff. I only use an all in one because it seems the most practical garment for erging - there's nothing to flap about. I get the impression that they're not that popular with ergers - perhaps some regard them as being a bit 'pro'.Me, Myself and I wrote: ↑January 15th, 2024, 3:50 pmSame. Re: Whacking heart rate sensor with handle
Tried it today during a 50min workout. Not with a H10 sensor, but with a Polar WearLink W.I.N.Dhikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 14th, 2024, 10:21 amI understand there can be issues picking up heart rate with that approach.
sensor and a RS800CX watch. It worked without. Perhaps no surprize since hearbeatsensors
don't sense the heartbeat itself but the electric pulse(s)?

Re: Whacking heart rate sensor with handle
Not sure it was a problem, but to be on the safe side I'd zip-tied a small piece of foamy/spongy stuff on the part of the c2 handle that was occasionally hitting the HRM. One thing less to focus on.hikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 13th, 2024, 12:51 pmIs there a workaround for this? I sometimes use a Polar H10 and give the sensor a bash every time I pull the handle to my sternum. I've heard that some wear the strap so that the sensor is slightly off centre. Thoughts?

Of course "worked without" should have been "worked without problems"

Yes, I've thought about doing something similar.HornetMaX wrote: ↑January 18th, 2024, 8:41 amNot sure it was a problem, but to be on the safe side I'd zip-tied a small piece of foamy/spongy stuff on the part of the c2 handle that was occasionally hitting the HRM. Re: Whacking heart rate sensor with handle
I think the HRM manuals typically say to put the module middle of your chest or, if troubles, a bit on the left.hikeplusrow wrote: ↑January 14th, 2024, 10:21 amI understand there can be issues picking up heart rate with that approach.
