Unpopular Query - HRM/Activity Trackers
Re: Unpopular Query - HRM/Activity Trackers
Yeah thanks - have not tried that yet. To clarify, I was speaking of using it as a standalone device not connected to the machine for all our PM3 & PM4 friends out there. Anything else independently provide rowing metrics beyond HR and SPM?

Late to the party. Got a Garmin Instinct 2X two months ago. I quite like what it does (and the long battery life) but for my RowErg/SkiErg sessions I don't bother to log them on the Garmin watch: I just let c2 logbook forward the session to Garmin Connect. It's less cumbersome and in the end I get 99% of the same info (training status, training readiness, training effect etc).
I find the watch optical HRM to be useless for RowErg and SkiErg activities. Chest HRM are more accurate and cheaper compared to activity trackers so it's probably a good investment to buy one anyway. My Instinct 2X can see my HRM (via ANT or via BT) without any issue (aside the fact it will only use my HRM when you start an activity from the watch, not outside activities e.g. at night).

LOL!!! It’ll take longer to get all the kit on than to do the row!!!
I wonder if anyone has checked the impact of all these Bluetooth waves flying around on our bodies… are they gonna give us cancer or something?!?
