I am a relative newbie to erg rowing my self (12mnths) after a triple heart bypass op, but in my humble opinion it sounds to me that your form is really bad and needs plenty of work - and this does take time to get right so it is automatic. And also I am guessing you have the resistance lever set too high as a lot of newbie rower's do and are not using the drag factor as a more effective means of control. Check out YT 'Training Tall and Concept's own website, you will injure yourself if you do not row correctly.paddler wrote: ↑February 23rd, 2022, 6:49 pmI'm 49, brand new to the Erg, and am using it to cross train 2x/week. I'm interested in improving on three distances, the 500, 1000 and 2k. How often do you guys attempt max PB rows? I was thinking of doing one per month: I did a 1:29 500 this month, will try a 1k in March, 2k in April, repeat.
Appreciate the feedback, and also wondering if it's common to slip off the seat during high intensity, shorter efforts? It may be my form, but I want to see if you put anything on the seat to prevent slippage.
Thanks!
How often should I attempt PB's?

Re: How often should I attempt PB's?
Actually, at sprinting its a common problem to slip of the seat. Talk about pure sprinting. At 1k and above pace this never happens. The horizontal powers are so high, that start to “float” a bit. Also ratings are getting very high, 60 is not strange.Tugger*# wrote: ↑March 18th, 2022, 7:46 amI am a relative newbie to erg rowing my self (12mnths) after a triple heart bypass op, but in my humble opinion it sounds to me that your form is really bad and needs plenty of work - and this does take time to get right so it is automatic. Not saying your post is wrong, using a good technique is always best, and technique is never 100% finished.
