No slight taken whatsoever on your reply. I purposely row at about 20spm to maintain good form and keep my heart rate under 115BPM. I could go a fair bit fast at 25spm, but this is actually deliberate. Please bear in mind that I am coming back from zero rowing for almost a year - actually zero anything. I am very concerned about keep my back straight as possible and minding my form as per Austin from TrainingTall. I am also 68 and horribly out of shape presently.
Don't sell yourself short JP.

How did you come up with a limit of 115 bpm? Is it a % of your max or your HRR? If so, be sure to figure out your max yourself, by doing a test on the erg (painful, but it provides useful information). Don't use 220 - your age, it's horribly inaccurate.

Keep up the good work - in a while you should be able to move beyond 3:20-3:30 rows.

Getting there is half the fun, right? I had to take a few water breaks along the way, but I am slowing getting my pace down.

I would go for a totally foam one that isnt too hard. Some are dual density.

I find foam rollers really painful on my legs so i use a jigsaw with a massage tip to help also.

Great progress made on your part - i started with a 100 day challenge and kept going!

Whatever you do though - dont roll over your joints . I did this and i think i moved cartilage. It took 2 weeks to sort it self out.

Yikes! I just figured out what you meant! Umm, heck no! I was considering buying a percussive massager. There are several pretty good brands out there too.

Yes it hurt! To be honest if you buy a battery powered jigsaw its probably more robust and cheaper. I thought about expensive stuff but my electric jigsaw is super effective for me.
