Inhale on the drive or the recovery?

First post.

I always maintain a 2-cycle pattern either rowing or erging. Big inhale first part of the recovery to exhale a bit just before the catch, this to relax the body, drop body weight lower, avoid picking up from the shoulders and more from the hips/legs. Inhale again on the first part of the drive to exhale just when you have your last press and drawing the handle to the body so I can create a good squeeze. Repeat.
