Re: 500m first time row
Thank you. I have trained my in different sports and weight lifting for many years but not specific to rowing. I’m a personal trainer by trade but just never used the rower to train only as warm up if ever have used. My friend who has rowed before Tony Millard advised i try it. So I guess that foundation helps me.

Very impressive 500m, even more so for your first proper attempt.

Re: 500m first time row
I would love to see the video,as if this is first attempt there may be lots of gains made through technique improvements.
There are many really knowledgeable people on this forum to give advice.

Thank you. I have the video on my phone but need to upload it to YouTube. I need to open a YouTube account to upload it. Otherwise I don’t personal mind sending it anyone. I’d love some advice and guidance. I really do not have a clue how to row properly regarding technique etc

Nope, it's just that we don't get new users on here with that sort of performance and you nearly got booted off here by posting the same thing four times in four different forums.scarfacem16 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 4:53 pmI’ve got a video on my phone how do I post it? Funny thing is you’re talking asif I’m lying? I’m new to this and was looking for some sportsman advice and nice people to help direct me. only because you can’t pull this Citroen doesn’t mean that somebody else can’t. I can assure you the kit is legit.

Re: 500m first time row
I’ve never used the forum before so how am I suppose to know where to post? Nearly booted me off for not knowing how to work something I’ve never used? That’s hardly fair. I’ve come on here for help and support not to be told i could be booted off for asking for help.

https://vimeo.com/481479170 for the folks who don't like to search and want to see some impressive speed on an ergo (with half-way decent form).
You appeared like a spammer (new user multiple identical posts). We get a shedload of spammers who copy'n'paste old threads multiple times to get passt first post moderation.scarfacem16 wrote: ↑November 19th, 2020, 7:43 pmI’ve never used the forum before so how am I suppose to know where to post? Guy has a point, Doug. Doesn’t know his way around the erg. Doesn’t know his way around the forum. Doing very well for such an innocent breath of fresh air. Aren’t you ashamed? Course his bud knows from applesauce ya think otherwise no vid.

To see you from the side would help to give advice on your technique.
What was your average rating?
How was your pace during the effort? If it was (almost) flat from beginning to end you should try a "controlled fly and die" which means start very fast, hold a pace you can't hold through the whole 500m and slowly die at the end, very painful, but overall the fastest strategy (have a look at Phil Clapp's 500m WR or Loren Howard's 1' and 500m efforts on Youtube).
For specific training, have a look at this thread

edit: and putting weights on the erg prevents slipping which also costs time

I'd avoided commenting initially - as others have said, you do get scammers and spammers on here, along with simple plain bull****ers.
The video is, on the other hand, incontrovertible.
Now, you're miles ahead of me, but I'll make three observations
1 - your start looks slow. A couple of half-strokes initially to get the flywheel up to speed, you can undoubtedly crack 1:20 without any further training or technique changes
2 - Set up your online logbook on the C2 site - this is only because of the next point ...
3 - Work out how to use the PM5. Set it up for a 500m workout, rather than on intervals. Then, once you've completed your workout, you can pull up a 'verification code' for the workout on the screen. If you enter that code alongside your workout, then it is down on the site as verified, and nobody can question it or your veracity
Nice going there, and good luck !

Welcome to the forum. You've arrived with quite a bang!
Not only blistering fast, but you made it look very easy. And at only 38spm, there must be so much more to come.

That verification is automatic if you use Ergdata on a phone to sync with the logbook at https://log.concept2.comrobbiep wrote: ↑November 20th, 2020, 2:43 am
