@RowerGal - HAHA. That does really seem to be like the erg, but by "shoveling," I meant running a snow blower while my 7 year old does the actual shoveling....

Another hard slog to get it done. Next week will be a struggle as I'm on holiday with limited access to an erg.

Good to see many co rowers working on their targets. PP is working and it motivates like every plan to hold discipline.
Did a TT today. I still have to work on my Strokerate:

Good Day,
Cycle 4/ Week 3/ Day 4
4x1000 on 5 min rest with >30spm
11/25/17 11/16/17 12/13/17 01/05/18
1000 151.2 149.5 148.0 147.0
1000 150.4 148.4 148.0 147.0
1000 151.1 147.4 148.0 146.1
1000 151.2 147.3 145.7 141.9
Avg 151.0 148.2 147.4 145.5
I have been thinking hard about what has changed in the last few weeks and why this cycle has shown a better improvement over the past. I believe it is in confidence of the, "kick." Meaning, I am getting more comfortable with emptying the tanks. I can start that process a bit earlier and know that I can make it, even though the pain will be greater. Its very hard to drop a time in the last 500, but it is possible to hold a time if you started fast enough. Obviously, there is a fine line here which I am sure I will be on the other side of at some point.
HR at 178 which is something I have not seen.
The pain though, was quite ridiculous with this one - why do we do this? oh, yeah, its awesome.......

Re: Pete Plan Thread
Had a break this morning and discretely went home from work to get today's 30 minute piece in before lunch since I will not have any time this evening.
Week 16 BPP. The advice on this one was to aim for the same SS pace from last week but slow the SPM down. My target was 2:13 at 22spm. I normally row my long pieces at 24spm. Slower pace really helped me today as I focused on my hip swivel at the end of the pull. This helped me generate more power at a sower spm. I was pleased with this.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
@ Dreadfish - enjoy the time off and have fun. Don't let erging ruin your time off!
@ Dietmar - I had nearly forgotten how strong you are. To hold around a 2:00 pace at 64 years old for 10K, just ridiculous! You're a strong man!
@ David - Many think that's the hardest interval. I don't know, they're all hard to me! Many think that the 4 X 1K is a really good predictor of your 2K time. You were right at 1:45, so certainly you're closing fast on 7:00 right now. I think you probably had more in you on the earlier intervals than you know.
@ Mitchell - I've found that after three years of rowing, I'm just starting to feel more consistent, comfortable and like I actually know what I'm doing each stroke. I still finish too hard much of the time so any work you can get where you feel you're getting better at form is very productive. I know what you mean by that "hip swivel". KB swings are great to work on that strength too. After my race this year, I'm going to incorporate a lot more heavy KB swings 3 times a week. I'm hoping to be able to start with 200 25kg ones 3 times a week. Eventually, I'd like to be able to do more. 200 (for me) will be challenging on top of the rowing at that weight.
SS today for me. When I do SS, I break it up with a planned towel break in the middle. Currently doing 5K X 2/2' (two minute rest). Expected it to be more of a recovery row but felt really good and fresh, so that was a pleasant surprise. 2:07.9/23 for the first 5K and 2:06.2/23 for the second 5K. I'm sure I let it get up into UT1 but that's OK during the Pete Plan. During the rest of the year, I try to make most of my SS work UT2. I'm OK if the HR creeps up when I'm closing in on race dates. It should feel harder overall. My race is less than a month off so I need to feel some "stress" right now.

Pleased with my 2KTT today. New PR of 8:07.6! Felt in control up to the last 396m where I really needed to dig in. Can't figure out how to put all of the Splits from my Logbook in here, so will just put part of the top line up for now. 8:07.6 2,000m 2:01.9 28RowerGal wrote: I am following the PP for the first time and just finished the last week of my 4th cycle. I did a 30' recovery row today @R20 and will take the day off tomorrow for a 2K TT on Friday. My last 2K test was October 23rd and I rowed an 8:10.1. My first goal on Friday is to go under 8:10 and my second goal is to get as near as I can to my 2K PR from December 23, 2017 of 8:08. Ultimate rowing "life goal" is to go sub-8, someday.

Re: Pete Plan Thread
@ RowerGal - nice work, congrats! Any PB, no matter how much, are hard to come by. You're my age, so believe me, I understand! I'd like to think I can keep doing PBs, but I know (perhaps) it's got to happen within the next 5 to 7 years max.
I just type the splits in but many throw up pics. Much easier to do on Facebook than on here. I'd look in the FAQ section and that might be helpful.

Cycle 4/ Week 3/ Day 5
Steady State HM with 25 spm @ 2:06.
Felt pretty good. Legs are a bit bruised up from sprints this week, but overall happy with how today felt.
Not sure which piece to do on Sunday. Usually I do something long, but I think cutting it back is a good idea. Maybe 30 min ranked piece.
Have a nice day,
