Been there, done that, as a lightweight, by 72 seconds, when I was 10 years older than you (just shy of 53), and didn't even know how to row, so not dreamin' at all, mate.

My 5K pb is 17:10.

Now that I know how to row, my 5K goal is 16:30.

Really?

What is the world record in a 1x OTW for lightweights?

What is the world record in a 1x OTW for heavyweights?

March 10, 2008: This coming year should be fun! I will probably race OTW for the first time this next year, too. That will be exciting.

March 31, 2009: I will racing my 1x OTW for the first time., both sprint events and head events.

Sure.

How else do you stay married for 35 years these days, as I have?

:D :D

If only ergs lied, huh, lancs?

Then they would be like the internet, and trolls like you could get along better on them.

But...

Ergs don't lie, so that game's up.

For those who row, divorce from the erg usually comes early.

Mike VB is giving up the erg, he says.

Will Rocket Roy ever erg again?

Dennis Hastings gave the erg up long ago.

Is Caviston still erging?

Where is Paul Flack these days?

Did Phil Morris take up bridge and checkers when he gave up erging?

Do you still erg, or do you just chase nurses in your spare time in doctorville?

What did you do today on the erg (or OTW, or both)?

What did you do on the erg yesterday?

What did you do on the erg the day before?

Are you racing at BIRC this year?

Are you racing at WIRC?

I've a novel idea, Rich:

Why not save a Word file of all of these "goals" and then copy it to "Ranger's training thread" once each day... then you'd be done with the only purpose of your posting? :P
IOW: There's a distinct lack of training being reported here

...you might even change your "ranger" signature to
"IANRW" = I am now rowing well ....to reinforce your mojo.

Rich: I thought you'd be interested in this video of force curves by rowers (to return to the "left-leaning haystack" discussion.

You may know who Drew Ginn is(?)

Now here's something you'd like as a "high-drag" type of guy.... bungee cord rowing! B)

The discerning eye will notice two patches of black tape placed at the water-line to show how much the hull bounces during the stroke cycle.
Can't see them?
Look again in larger format: (2:00 into the vid' and beyond)

Notice how the shots switch back and forth between bungee and no bungee
