A piddly PB compared to some of the flyers around here but I'm pretty proud of this one:

I'm in the middle weeks of the beginners Pete plan where you repeat the 10k row several times. I originally was doing them at SS pace but set a goal to meet or beat the 25th percentile of ranked workouts in the logbook for my age group. I've been steadily increasing the pace each session and today was the day.

I was worried I'd have lingering malaise or other side effects from the double dose of flu & bivalent booster shots Saturday but I felt good and was able to push the pace with a few k left.

Image

Final result puts me at ~71% of ranked entries so goal achieved!
I can recall a time but too long ago when just completing the distance WAS the achievement!

As others have said the real PB is the cumulative effort and the times just kind of "happen".

Well done!

another row and another PB... seem to be coming thick and fast.

Smashed my 1hr; added an extra 531m - hadn't planned on it but at 20mins I was feeling really good, so thought I'd crack on at the same rate rather than slow it for a lower HR session; 40mins it started to get tough, but I ploughed through it.

Well done, and I agree with Nick re pace for your next attempt, but seeing as you struggled around the 40 minutes mark, this you might have paced it perfectly.

Thought I'd have a go at 10k, as I'd recently set pb's in 30min and 60min.

Didn't go with any pace in mind - I knew I'd set a pb as I'd only done the distance once before.

took 4:31.6 off the time, and I was only 0.6s/500m slower than my 30min pb; so I'm sure that I can drop that one if I pace it better - as was mentioned when I posted it.

David,

I just passed 10 million meters after nearly 11 yrs. I see that you row between 1 and 2 hrs every day. That would take some getting used to and slowing way down. Life circumstances will not permit me to do in a week what you do in a day. Count me as impressed.

I average about 37 min a day for the last 28 years.
I can't do it every day, so I do more some days.
I also have decided sleep is a waste of time
I have many different things I need to do every day, but rowing/exercising is one that I try to do every day I'm allowed.

I couldn't get out of bed to train for the second morning in a row, so I took advantage of the short break to do a lunchtime 2k TT at a gym local to work. I got a bit worked up in anticipation, with very weak feeling legs during the warm-up :?

I was aiming for an even pace of 1:44 for the first 1500-1600m, and then to up the pace from there to the end. After 3 strokes I saw 1:31, then I was battling to slow the pace - turns out it was 50 seconds before I saw 1:44 for the first time, which I did by slowing the rate slightly. From there on it was a blur, I found it very difficult to concentrate on the pace. I remembered to try to up the rate if I saw the pace slipping. It turns out the pace increased very gradually to around 1:42.5 until the last 500m when the pace started to slow, with a few strokes as slow as 1:45.7. So it didn't go to plan at all, but I think the consistency was okay, and in hindsight a slight slowing of the pace at the end probably indicates that I managed to properly empty the tank.

My previous best was 6:56.3, on 25.08.22.
