I will wear wrist bands when doing a longer TT to try and stop some of the wet handle issues. Will be curious to see if your HR goes higher on a 2K ot a shorter interval session. Either way you were operating in the high range and maintaining that, so that's impressive.Sakly wrote: ↑October 6th, 2022, 3:34 pmThank you much, Keith!KeithT wrote: ↑October 6th, 2022, 3:20 pmExcellent row and paced very well and sub 37! and once again the SPM is amazing for that distance. SPM was fitting well, seems that I can better rate high compared to more powerful strokes at lower rates.
My max HR was 185 in a 5k TT attempt. So this row was near max effort in terms of HR. RPE was around 9 to 9.5 at the end I would say. The bigger problem was the sweaty handle. If dry I would swear another 2-3s would have been possible in the last k.

I wear wrist bands - without I would get a wet handle already nearly from the start. Thought about wearing two for TTs and longer stuffKeithT wrote: ↑October 6th, 2022, 3:38 pmI will wear wrist bands when doing a longer TT to try and stop some of the wet handle issues. My last 2k TT was without HR belt - in this one I HD'd for few seconds. Would have been interesting what was going on with HR in that attempt. This month the 3x2k will get the HR up again

What FAN or fans are you using ? Sopping up the ineffective sweat (the sweat that doesn't evaporate) is not the answer. Getting enough air flow so your body heat is carried away is better. Go commercial 18" or 20". Many brands, some are quite noisy, some ok. Most look like this. Other options exist. Mostly I run it at low, bad days need medium. Never used high. Pointed at my back about 3 feet away (close enough to change speed without getting off rower, far enough not to hit at finish)

perfectly times post Tsnor...thank you. I'm looking down the barrel of Summer here in Oz and I can't face another Summer of rowing in 32C+, 90% humidity. Am just working through whether I need to buy an air con unit for my home gym or buy 1 or 2 large fans. Will check out prices of these nowTsnor wrote: ↑October 7th, 2022, 8:54 pmWhat FAN or fans are you using ? Sopping up the ineffective sweat (the sweat that doesn't evaporate) is not the answer. No fan at all. My rower sits in the basement and there is not much space left as there is other training equipment and also some storage for stuff. I thought about getting a fan, but did not buy one yet as I am not sure about space and also produced noise. Perhaps I should rethink...Tsnor wrote: ↑October 7th, 2022, 8:54 pmWhat FAN or fans are you using ? Sopping up the ineffective sweat (the sweat that doesn't evaporate) is not the answer. That's pretty much the fan I use and it works well. I notice the difference hugely when in my work gym without it and I would recommend one strongly.Tsnor wrote: ↑October 7th, 2022, 8:54 pmWhat FAN or fans are you using ? I always use a fan like that, and the noise is probably slightly less than the noise of the flywheel.
It doesn't stop me sweating though, but it does help and I'd recommend using one

Finally something to post here, 3m+ PB on my HM time: 1:26:16.
I've lost a fair bit of weight since my last attempt, I can definitely say this felt easier than last time. HR about 70% for the whole distance, was never out of breath.

Well done. HMs are all about building confidence so it looks likely that you can take another chunk off this, despite this being a massive improvement already.fragandclear wrote: ↑October 8th, 2022, 11:47 amFinally something to post here, 3m+ PB on my HM time: 1:26:16.
