5k pb - 19:10. Didn't start out as a time trial ... started the first 1k in 4:04 then decided to see if I could beat my old 19:30 5k time starting from a deficit.

I see you got real close to 19:00, too. Nice work!
I have been using the erg regularly since Jan 1, 2010, with a break in spring/summer for OTW rowing. Been a race rower long time ago and I used to have faster times. Now coming back after a very long break.

Last night I saw 14 people signed up on RowPro for a Full Marathon, and it was for 9AM Eastern Time, and I saw that Hywel Davies, one of the fittest humans on the planet, was signed up, so I signed up on a lark (my previous long row was 25K, though lots of HMs!).
I did absolutely no warm-up - I figured I needed the energy, so the first 10 minutes of my FM was warm-up. Then I did 1:54 for quite a while, until my overall average was below 1:57. But then the rest of the rowers disappeared off my screen (with their times frozen), so I kept having to make a decision whether to stop...at HM? 25K? 28K? 30K? 35K? I ended up going above 2:00 at my last break (every 1/2 hour), and averaging 2:00.3 for the whole thing, #6 time in the 50-59 M HWs - and came in 3rd behind Davies & Jim Divan.
2:49:13.3... Not bad for a 1st try at a FM!

Good job! Felt like my legs were dead yesterday during some awful sessions, but I felt strong after the first 2500, and kept up the punishment. A pleasant surprise.

Following the Pete Plan. I rowed my first continuous 10000m today. Time was 39:52. I am very happy with this, since I could have pushed harder. I kept my heart rate under 145 the whole time. The biggest problem is that my butt hurts quite a bit as I row longer, and I am losing weight and hence padding as well. Still very happy with this row.

Have you tried the pad that C2 provides? Under 40' is a very short time to have that problem. No I have not tried the pad. I was just hoping my butt would toughen up as I rowed more. This does not seem to be happening. I guess I will try to use some old foam padding, and failing that I will get the C2 pad.

For others it's not a short time. I also have glute problems above 30 minutes and it's not the bones it's the muscle that hurt. It's mostly a given talent to get butt pain. Just a little PR: I broke 14k in 60 minutes yesterday.
I have been back on the old erg for about two to three hours weekly the last two months, progressing from surviving 15 minutes to enjoying 60 minutes. Nothing very special, just steady state and some 10 minute intervals. My main focus is on running. I will use rowing for core endurance and aerobic base without too much stress on the body. My typical week will be 5-6 hours running and 3 hours rowing.
The 60 minute erg sessions suit me, now that I have done a few. And I know that 14 k isn't that much, but it feels great. I will keep on rowing mixed with running, who knows, maybe 15 k one day?
