Are you only 10% less strong than "young lwts".. A test can be arranged for that too
Btw: How about flexibility as an issue?
Flexibility is no issue. I can easily put my hands on the floor.
And (!) You put you hand(le) down a whole lot too!

Seriously:
I really meant elasticity:
Muscle tissue elasticity declines with age. This is independent of fitness. Again: focus on what AGING is. Read about this in any Anat/Physio. text. There is no recourse to halting aging, it can be slowed down but not as much as you "think" (but haven't bothered to find out.
Read about elasticity of the lungs as it relates to respiration... read what it says on this topic as we get older.
Get your VO2 max tested.
Revise your "I think" statements.

I am not talking about touching toes here...

I thought it might be useful to have a little reminder of the parameters of off-topic, as several people seem to be struggling with the concept. The overall summary was "ANY post that contains ANYTHING that is even VAGUELY off-topic will be removed." That includes, but is not limited to:
  • Any mention of any other rower, or category of rowers
  • Any mention of racing
  • Any mention of water
  • Any mention of 'rowing well' (be as specific or vague about rates, powers, etc as you wish, but trying to redefine English words is not a part of training)
  • Discussion of bets, challenges, lies, etc.
  • Any discussion of the forum and its workings
What does that leave then, I hear you ask. Easy:
  • Reports of sessions done
  • Explanations of why particular sessions are done (that don't include any of the above no-nos)
  • Direct questions (not accusations) about either of these things

I don't see any manifestations of this.

If there was a problem here, it would have some effects on performance.

I don't see any.

Oh, I should add the rationale. Most recently ranger said "Sure, I _wish_ this thread were about my training, but it appears that you folks are not interested in training." He has previously said that it should be about training, not racing, and that it should be about erging, not rowing otw. Personally I could do without all this off-topic nonsense, but the thread initiator has requested that it be limited as I've described above, and it only seems right for me to try and comply.

does it match your expectations

that you would be working at 215watts as a
maximalpowersteadystateride on

the Kurt Kinetic throughout the winter

Sure, why not?

As I have said repeatedly, I bike _after_ I erg, and just to relax, recover, and burn calories, as cross-training, oh, and perhaps, just to just stay used to doing a lot of work, e.g., running my HR at 155 bpm, steady state, for a couple of hours.

The general conditioning involved in a lot of cross-training keeps you feeling young.

I spin at 19 MPH.

I am training for rowing, not biking.

My bike is so trashed it only has one gear, probably not the optimal one.

Results agree with the input.

Mild "fat burning" intensity does not promote performance on its own.

Would you post verifiable evidence that you are running your heart rate at 155 for a couple of hours?
