Thanks! I was on a PM3 monitor so only had a quick look after my warm up on “display drag factor”. It was low 140s for the couple of quick test strokes I pulled.

Well done Dave. 1:30 is great one to crack.Dave_G1986 wrote: ↑June 12th, 2021, 3:38 pmManaged to get over a nice benchmark today. First time sub 1:30 for 500m. Actually feel like a could go a bit quicker if my legs were fresh and not aching from squats.

Absolutely destroyed that! Nice work and a great rating to keep up for 500m. Legs should be in agony after that. If not, you didn't go hard enough.Dave_G1986 wrote: ↑June 12th, 2021, 3:38 pmManaged to get over a nice benchmark today. First time sub 1:30 for 500m. Erg? what's that?

Thanks for asking, but unfortunately not

Save myself for OTW in a single scull once a week at the moment but that is about it. After this weeks session my hands looked like they had been on the losing end of a fight with a potato peeler

Tried a complete break and things just bubble along without really completely going away so its all very annoying. I will be back though and still have goals I rather optimistically pen on here occasionally! I still browse through the forum and enjoy seeing the good work everyone else is putting in

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Since I changed my training plan at the start of this rowing year I can tell I've been getting a lot stronger. My 2K PB going into this season on 4/30/21 was a 9:49.5 @ 27 SPM (2:27.3 pace). This morning I managed to do a 9:06.6 @ 26 SPM (2:16.6 pace).
The joys of having a dedicated plan and being newer is seeing some rapid gains! I don't know where I'll plateau but am hoping in a few weeks to get a time that starts with an 8!

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Well done on the improvement. I often find after I have not rowed for a while that I go through a few phases of increased work per stroke ("getting stronger") followed by increasing rating. To break 9 min you just need to manage that stroke at your previous 27SPM, so not far off now! That said, there's no reason that you can't push maybe another 10% extra work per stroke if you keep at it which would be pulling the same speed at 24SPM! Or perhaps sub 20' 4k at 20SPM could be your next target.row_boat_willie wrote: ↑June 14th, 2021, 9:07 pmSince I changed my training plan at the start of this rowing year I can tell I've been getting a lot stronger. 56, lightweight in pace and by gravity. Currently training 3-4 times a week after a break to slowly regain the pitiful fitness I achieved a few years ago. Free Spirit, come join us http://www.freespiritsrowing.com/forum/

A slightly higher rate will get you sub-8 in no time. That'll use more of your rowing fitness rather than relying on strength. I rate too low on the skierg and even then I did my 2k at 40spm.

Huge improvement. Well done Willie. With any luck at all, plateaus are some way off yet. The more patient you are with your training, the more you'll be able to keep them at bay. Of course, this is much easier said than done (Mr Grey Zone here).row_boat_willie wrote: ↑June 14th, 2021, 9:07 pmSince I changed my training plan at the start of this rowing year I can tell I've been getting a lot stronger.
