Another PB! I've lost track of these! This one looks so comfortable that a free rate HoP must be close to 16k. Loving your work, outstanding for a 40+ LWT.
Cheers Max 🙏....hoping to get 15750 at free rate but will need some more longer sessions to adapt I think.

1 more year til I jump to 50's 😁

Yeah, now you're in your late-mid-late-forties, I probably should have called you a 40+++ LWT.

Quality....but only what we expect of you B) ......dunno how you rate that high for that long, I struggle to rate that for 5km let alone 6km. I'll try for R26-28 later in my 6k TT

PS you're not allowed a week off B)

I almost didn't do anything today, but I dragged myself on and knew it had to be the CTC. I'm still not feeling quite right, so I didn't expect much, but this is a 22 second PB. Admittedly, it is a bit of a soft PB as my last 6k was more or less 12 months ago, and I have only ever done about four of them.

I hit the inevitable wall at about 4.5k, and the last 750 was fuelled by pride, and a lot of gurning and swearing.

I have just realised that this is also a 5k PB, so I'll need to do that again sometime soon

This is no soft PB! This is a great row and like you said your pace was better than 5K pace - you can smash your 5K. Great work! Overall, paced well too. The 6K is so odd to me and have only tried it like 2 times but since the CTC might give it a go Wed.

Another super strong PB with a fast last 1K, very impressive. If you do try the 10K - good luck I am sure it will be another PB and then you will need/deserve a Holiday.

Tweaked a bit more off my 2k in the Somerset 525 Virtual Rowing Champs. This rowing lark is a funny old thing, I should be delighted with another PB but I set out for a 6:30 and so have feeling of having failed. I just couldn’t hold it in the last quarter and my usual last 250 ‘sprint’ saw me going slower. My annoying HR spike happened earlier as well so I wonder if that held me back a bit. 175 BPM at 4 mins, then 20 seconds later it was 207 and stayed over 200 until the last 10 seconds.
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
6:31.6 2,000m 1:37.9 373 1583 31 184
1:37.7 500m 1:37.7 375 1591 31 166
1:37.9 1,000m 1:37.9 373 1583 31 174
1:37.5 1,500m 1:37.5 378 1599 31 205
1:38.5 2,000m 1:38.5 366 1560 32 193
This a really solid PB. I understand wanting more and based on some of your training sessions I think you have sub 6:30 in you but some days are just not as good as others. Someone else mentioned not wearing the HR monitor for the shorter TTs and I agree, in fact I don't wear for any TTs as I feel it distracts me. You have made and keep making gains - they may slow but lots more to come.

Thanks fellas.

Keith, I think my previous 21:09 was a little bit soft, but this was anything but soft. It was probably all I could squeeze out today. It is a strange distance, and I think it's only my fourth ever go at it.

Martin, yeah, it does make me think that a sub 17:10 5k might be possible, as it probably would have been a 17:14 5k today. The 100k HD is a strange one as it's a different type of feeling, which is hard to describe but it's like a dull feeling, a lead cloak and a vice around your lungs for the long stuff, and a sharper, more intense feeling for the shorter stuff.

I'm not sure that they both take from the same energy source, as one seems more about fitness, and the other to do with Central Nervous System co-operation :D
