Whats a good 2k time for my situation?

Post by Wolkies » January 31st, 2008, 7:52 pm

Im rowing for a highschool team. Ive been rowing about 10 month now, and im not sure if my 2k time is up to speed where it should be. Let me know:

Age: 16
Height: 5'6
Weight: 130 lbs
6k time: 26:55.7

Im thinking I could pull around a 8:15ish, but Im not sure.

There is about a 6+/- second difference in split between 6k and 2k. Using your 6k time (2:14.6 split) it could be safe to say you are capable of at least holding a 2:08 split which equals 8:32 for 2k.

Of course this depends on your current level of fitness. I don't know when you performed the 6k you listed.

Since you are only 10 months into the sport let me give you a piece of advice when it comes to testing. Never hop on the erg without a plan. Know your splits. Know what you want to hold and execute. 8:15 = 2:03.8 split.
