Hey people.
Been out of rowing for a few months now due to an injury but been going on the odd couple of runs here and there recently.
EIRC is coming up in three weeks and i'll be expected to go as my boat club is based in the city.
What would you guys do if you only had three weeks to train fror it? sprints? long distance?
cheers, Marc

Hi, Marc. Your 500-meter time is very, very fast. So I wouldn't worry too much about increasing your power. Given your age, I believe that you can increase your endurance quickly. And you also should be able to recover from hard workouts quickly, as well.
So schedule a few days of workouts where you do relatively hard 10- to 20-minute pieces. For example, this morning, I did five 15-minute pieces. It seemed like a great workout to me.
If you're super motivated, you may want to schedule one or two days in the first two weeks where you do two workouts in one day. On those days, try five minute pieces in the morning; then do an easy row, jog, cycle (whatever you want) in the afternoon or evening.
Because you are already a very fit young athlete, you can improve a great deal in three weeks.
Good luck. And keep us posted.

Thanks Jamie.
Yeah the 500 time was done a while ago before a stress fracture in my foot took me out of rowing for a few months.
I'll hopefully start doing two sessions a day soon, but probably more like a run in the morning and then a row in the evening as i live quite far from the gym.
Have been looking at your times and they're pretty incredible, i'm suprised you're not nearer the 6:20 region with your 2k.
Marc

Thanks, Marc. But a 60- or 120-minute time trial and a 2K test involve a different world of pain.
Running can be rough on a healing foot. You're too young to risk a chronic injury. There's always -- especially at your age -- another erg test.
