My 500m is my best distance. My others are(don't remember decimals):

1000m 3:27
2000m 7:40
5000m 20:36
30 min 7136m

I've only been at this since March. For some reason I am better at the shorter distances.

Thanks for sharing. I think some time this week I'll do a 500m PB attempt. High 20's (1:29) is a good goal to shoot for I think. You should work on your endurance more than your sprinting.
PB's:
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1

Good luck. Making it to the 20s would be great. That's my goal too.

And of course, you are right, I need to work on endurance.

Thaks for your interest,
Jacl

I gave myself a penalty workout after quitting a 60 minute workout. Couldn.t keep up the pace and quit after 40 minutes...

However, the "penalty workout" got my 500 meter down from 1.43.9 to 1.39.4 :)

Non rowing/erg related. I deadlifted 465 pounds for a 5 pound PR. A small improvement but an improvement none the less.

I know this is rowing related website, but I wanted to brag somewhere. Thanks for reading.

New 5k PR.

Post by bscastro » June 10th, 2007, 6:39 pm

Hey friends,

Today, I broke 22 minutes in the 5k for the first time.

Old PB: 22:35
New PB: 21:58.7

It feels good to know the training is helping!

Bryan

Well done Bryan! You're getting awefully close to my 5K PB. Maybe we can set a target date for a first attempt to break 20 minutes and set up a dedicated training schema?

i did my first real 2k test ever today... i've been rowing for 4 years and row and race a lot on the water, but my team never does erg tests. my doubles partner and i thought we might as well get a 2k time down while we're in shape from nationals and so we went for it today.

i got a 7:46 and i'm really happy with it.
i'm 17, about 122lbs, and a girl.

my splits were as follows, i kind of flew and died.
1st 500: 1:53.3 @ 31
2nd 500: 1:56.5 @ 31
3rd 500: 1:58.6@ 31
4th 500: 157.7 @ 32

i think with better pacing i could improve my time, but i'm very happy with it as a benchmark.

Despite a period of lackluster and rather sporadic training due to holidays and busy schedule, I finally was able to knock a few seconds off my 5000m time. 19:10 down to 19:06. Had to pull 1:38 for the last couple of minutes. Pretty well lathered up at that point. Decided not to keep going to 30 minutes.

I shot past my previous 60min PB, set during the last millenium  (14,290 m on 6/17/1995), to reach 14,539 m this morning.

I'm tired, but psyched...

I broke 8M lifetime meters this morning! Only took about 7 years longer than I expected, but I'm not complaining; I've logged over 1.2 M meters since February, which is only 100K short of my best (calendar) year since I started in 1992.

Cheers,

Daniel

My first half-marathon: 92:21.9 min (2:11.3 min/500 m ave).

Also, when I include the cooldown, the longest (103:33 min) and furthest (23,117 m) I've ever done in a single sitting. I forgot to drink a glass of water before I started so my legs were getting a bit crampy, but other than that I was able to finish very strong (<2:00 min/500 m) for the last 2,000 m and I feel pretty good.
