I just thought I would share a workout that really felt great. I based it on a workout I read about in a HIIT article, and tweaked in very slightly.
I warmed up for 500 meters, then set the monitor for 6,000 meters. I then rowed the first 25 strokes (250 meters) of each 1,000 of the 6,000 at 250-300 Watts, then rowed the remaining 75 strokes (750 meters) at half of whatever wattage I was able to maintain for the 25 strokes, so (125-150 watts). By the end it was difficult to maintain.
What's interesting is one rows considerably slower than you would rowing for time on 6k, but end up feeling wiped out in the end. Someone else's max in Watts may be more than mine, but you would just adjust the rest period accordingly. For whatever reason, the workout just felt great, and I could feel my body respond. Especially the next day. I also like it better setting up the monitor for total meters than with rest periods, because you only see time wind down and cannot see what you are actually rowing during rest periods.
Just thought I would share.
