Sub-maximal haiku

Post by Ducatista » January 30th, 2007, 1:07 pm

Icy sidewalks, boots.
Shin pain strikes; no erg today?
Ah... sub-maximal!

Great idea, the slack-ass workout as an alternative to no workout at all. Last night it carried me past 300K for the JVC. Nothing says "Thanks for the tip, PaulS" like a crappy haiku...

ahh, the Church of the Sub-Maximal!

obligatory crappy haiku:

aching shins and calves.
subvert challenge with beach fun.
sub-max to re-coup.

spent a long weekend at the beach, and returned with *very* cranky lower legs.
i really wanted to catch up with my challenge meters, and a nice easy (aka 'slack-ass')
row really helped ease the ache and tightness i was experiencing. i'd only intended
to row for 30 minutes or so, but it ended up being almost an hour.

Now THERE'S a tee shirt — or RPRG's name for the next virtual challenge. B)

My S&M workout had the same soothing effect on my achy legs. I've taken quite a shine to this higher-meterage business, now that I can confidently dial it down when appropriate.

Weekend at the beach, lucky you. It was in the low teens for my walk home today, with a nasty wind chill hovering around 0°F. Thank god January's almost over.

Rowing, movement nil.
Erging hard to go on still
Two K so far away.

KINLEY GOES TO THE GYM

Happy man on treadmill
Flipping through a magazine
Why am I rowing?

 Just realized there are too many syllables in my haiku. Guess I'll be sitting out the sestina thread.

JVC Lament

Oh, Canada. Damn.
Bumped out of top 150
by two-team ergers.

:(

On the bright side, January was my highest-meter month ever, by quite a bit, which I suppose is its own reward. Not really sure why I had my heart set on being in the top sesquicentile anyway... it was just the sort-of-round number I was closest to. B)

Hmmm, when you care to send the very best...

Slack-ass workout tip.
I suppose you are welcome.
Something or nothing.
Erg on,

Alarm clock rings out
Still too dark to leave the bed
But CRASH-B's are near

looks like a there's a glitch that allows for more than one team affiliation, eh?
take out the 10 or so doubles and you're well within the top 150.
i'm just glad it's over! (i don't even have enough energy left for a haiku...)
