I did C2 race a million years ago in the basement of Memorial Hall ( maybe 15 years ago). Since then I've been training hard but doing other stuff. I plan on going to the Main Line Slide at Nova (my Law School Alma Mater) next Saturday to check out what it's supposed to look like and then get down to some serious rowing.

I sort of kind of did a test today. I say "sort of kind of" because I'm on about 5 straight days of running and did 30m on the treadmill doing hill repeats before I got on the rower. I didn't mean to "test" but it just happened. Did 7:44 for 2k. I'm turning 47 in a couple months.

If anyone going to be at the Main Line Slide who trains for this and is involved with a club or anything let me know and I'll try to find you. I just moved to Voorhees NJ. Thanks

Bill

Hmmm... I'm no where in the shape I want to be, but I'm about to finish my first "logged" million meters. (Goal is to finish by the end of January... was supposed to finish at the end of December, but stuff keeps coming up...) Anyway, that seems like a fun way to celebrate my accomplishment. I'm gonna get my butt kicked, but what the hey... Just printed out the entry form.

Biggest "question" regarding your 2K piece and "what it's supposed to look like" is what was your stroke rating? Hopefully not too high...

Stroke rating was 24. Which i understand should be around right for me. I'm a pretty "big" guy. 6'1" 185 w/ a 425 deadlift last year. I'm backing way off the weights. I'd like back to around 180-182 which is what I weighed in my endurance days.

What I meant by "look like" was really good form.

Hi Bill,

Please disregard my PM question about your coming to the C2 forum. You answered it in your initial post above. Welcome ! I hope you enjoy and are well served by your shift in training emphasis.

What brought you to make the changes you are making ? (ie; "backing off the weights" running, putting your toe in the C2 waters, etc.) I am just a few months your senior and respect your insights, as I know of your training accomplishments from elsewhere.

Best,

Eddie

Hey Eddie,

I already answered your PM. No need to bore these nice people with my life history. Suffice to say since coming back to the endurance side from the strengh side I see it as a better path to still be lean and mean at 60. That said, I'm sure to be leaning toward intervals, hard 10s, the 500m, and such and away from 90m rows (unless some coach holds a gun to my head).
