Just started today. I'm hoping that I will be able to make the full 200k. I'm using this as rehab for my back so that I can hopefully get back to the point where I can row and erg normally again. It's maddening how long it takes to go a distance when you have to pull a slow split.
It would be such a shame not to finish the full 200 this year since the logo is so nice this year, that and I have a collection of the pins going, a gap would suck. :)

6271 meters yesterday and today

The HC is getting me back into rowing.

I ordered a model D today, and am going to sell the model B in the meantime.

I'm just at 46870m today.
I'm not being very consistant, and otw-meters don't count, so I don't think I will make it...

No rowing for me till monday :(

Pm3 :(

At least it's something new though.

Getting a new machine and trying something new is the reason.

Plus have had the B a long time, so it's time to let go of it and move on. :)

Up to 55,500+ as of last night. My hour row got interupted with 20 minutes left to go. Todya's usually the off day but may row a 5K or so and at least finish out what I intended to do last night. 100K is prbably in the bag. Still could be a stretch for the 200K.

Well I ordered a model D yesterday, and this morning the model B went ka-poot.

Good timing! :(

Anyway I am happy this happened before selling it!

I was rowing along at a 2:05 pace, when all of a sudden there was no resistance on the drive and I went flying to the back. Most of all I felt this in my hands. So I slowed down, it seemed okay, I sped back up and it happened again. I was wondering if the chain was slipping but it felt more like the cogwheel was slipping. I sped back up and WHAMMO it happened again, this time jamming my fingers, so I stopped, went in a called C2 to see what they thought. I had rowed 4 minutes at this pace with nothing happening, then it happened 3 times in 30 seconds. I'd done some sprints a few days ago. Fortunately it didn't happen with those!

The person at C2 asked me about the chain and cogwheel. I had replaced these 3 or 4 years ago, then rowed for 2 years on a model C, so they should still be in good shape. I think the chain and cogwheel last a long time, and I had many more meters on the originals than on these.

So it appears to be the "roller clutch bearing". I ordered 1 of these and 4 R8 bearings which came to $18.60 with shipping. Not bad. However now the cage will need to be taken apart, and I'll need to take it to a bike shop so they can take out the old bearings and put in the new ones. Apparently they have an "arbor press" that does this easily and (hopefully) won't cost very much. Then the model B should be working again, and I'll have the peace of mind knowing it is being sold in top condition for the buyers.

In the meantime, I won't be able to row any more meters for the Holiday Challenge. But the new machine should be here in a week, so I will take up then and still aim for the 200k.

In the meantime, keep adding up the meters and have fun. :)

i had a week off from rowing over the thanksgiving holiday (up 2 lbs!) so i just started wednesday. i can count on rowing 5 days a week, and i'm @ 35k now,
so 15 days to do 165k = 11k/rowing day. i'm really working now to drop some long overdue 'winter weight', so some high mileage days fit the plan to a "T".

i'll try to bank some extra, as i don't want to end up having to pull the HM on xmas eve, like Mr. Ducatista.
(i'm a world-class procrastinator though, so odds are i'll be doing some sort of wrap-up row as Santa's sleigh approaches ;) )

- al.

i hadn't noticed until yesterday that my meters rowed toward the challenge showed up on my logbook page - being organizationally challenged, that'll help immensely to keep me on track!

I also didn't realise it was automatically being counted on the C2 log... :o
Since the counting is done for you I'm aiming for 200,000. So far, I'm on 68,984...
