I have about 6 months until the spring crew racing season begins. I have purchased a concept 2 erg and am looking to lower my 2k/6k time as much as possibe. I plan on using the wolverine or pete plan, but I was wondering if i train hard how many seconds i can hope to trim off.
I started competative rowing last year and my first 2k was about a 7:20 but over the summer i got i down about 10-15 seconds without training on an erg too hard.
I am 16 and 6-3, so based on this info how how mich time can i hope to take off.
Also, any stories about lowering 2k times would be great. Please include training method, before and after time, and time training.
Thanks alot..
How many seconds can i shave off in 6 months w/ erg training

you could probably shave off a decent amount of time. Between my sophomore and junior year of high school I was able to go from 6:59 to 6:37 over 2k without a very focused training plan. And I'm about 6' and was about 175 lbs. back then. With your height you sound like you have a lot of room for improvement, and if you want to get good on the erg, erging a lot is definitely one way to do it. Although I would say that as good as the Pete Plan and Wolverine Plan can be, do yourself a favor and throw in some crosstraining.
