Nutrition/Energy for 200k Challenge

Post by wrandyrice » November 22nd, 2006, 2:25 pm

I've been rowing for about 1.5 years now. Just crossed the 2 million mark. Getting ready for the 200k challenge.

Wondering . . . what kind of nutrition can anyone recommend for energy, especially pre-workout/"burst" energy, if you will? Reason I ask is, nutrition is my weakness. I tend to eat to undereat. That is, I tend to eat healthy foods, but I eat very few times per day.

Any help appreciated.

A great pre workout boost would be a powerbar. They have a good deal of calories in them and they dont seem to bother my stomach during a workout. For longer and harder workouts i sometimes take a gelshot from either powerbar or GU. It is a mixture of simple and complex carbohydrates that the body can obsorbe very fast.

Special nutrition shouldn't be required for 6250 meters a day. Maybe keep track of your calories burned and throw a few more holiday goodies into your diet over the holidays.
