2 New PBs to start the year.

Post by TabbRows » May 18th, 2006, 7:54 am

For all you fast rowers these times may look like your warmups but...

On Monday, I PBed my 5K time by nearly 20 seconds. 2:34.6 versus last year 2:53. And I did it by staying above 195 watts at least 3/4 of the time. That next to the last 1K is where I usually tire out, but this time, I simply took the rate down from 24/25 to 21/22 for 250 meters or so to recatch the power in the stroke and then built back up to over 195 and tried to hold it as long as I could before repeating the "recatch" drill. :D

Yesterday, not having a lot of time before pilates class, I did a 5 minute warmup and then did a 4 minute test for 1047 meters. What I liked about the test was that I was able to hold my stretch 2K pace (1:53) for most of the time and even doing 28/29 spm wasn't as nearly out of breath and felt I had enough left over at the end to continue. Of course my legs had a different feeling as evident in their heaviness during the pilates class.

6k PR

this was my first 6k ever, and probably one of the most painfull things I have done in a while. at around the 3k mark my middle started to hurt (stomach ache type) but I kept it going and held even splits for most of it (1:50-1:51) my stroke rate starting off was a 24, but I pushed it up to a 26 beacause my coach and cox'n were yelling to me to raise it.

so here is my new (only) time for a 6k 22.01.4/6k 1:50.1/500m even splits

-Yay, something new to add to my sig!

Nice effort, moreso if you managed an even splitting!
With your 2k, I bet you may ticle out another 30 sec out of that time.

Today I had planned to row otw, but our channel was full of schoolkids floating around in kayaks, so no row possible. Just jumped on the erg for a hard 10k:
PB 37:35,1, 27 sec off my previous one! B)

Well done, stroke_seat!
Think those 14 sec missing to 6:30 will be very hard to find.
Keep it on!

Those are really good times for a 14 year old. How tall are you and how much you weigh??
PB's:
500: 1:39
2k: 6:43.3
6k: 21:44.1

GD! what have they been feeding you? (j/k) I bet your coach is gonna love you next year... a frosh pulling under 7 is a big deal. (actually now that i think about it, one of the freshmen on my team this year pulled his last 2k and got a 6:41.x similar size as well... but he is older) anyways keep it up man (my jaw hath droppethed to the flooreth) amazing.!!!!!

Today I had scheduled 6*500, but I did 4*500 + 1*1k, in order to post a time for CTC.
Not full out, but nevertheless managed a PB in the 1k:
3:19,1, 0,8 sec off my previous.
Going to sleep flat now

Hi It's my first post to this thread but after reading the previous page I couldn't resist.

June 1st CTC 1000m

Planned on 1:48 for 1st 500 / 1:47 or better 2nd. I conciously tried to slow down after the first 100m but the handle felt sooo light.

1__0:20.8__1:44.0__40
2__0:21.0__1:45.0__34
3__0:21.2__1:46.0__34
4__0:21.5__1:47.5__33
5__0:21.5__1:47.5__33
6__0:21.4__1:47.0__34
7__0:21.5__1:47.5__36
8__0:21.6__1:48.0__33
9__0:21.2__1:46.0__37
10_0:21.1__1:45.5__37
Totals 3:32.8 1,000 1:46.4 35

Works out to a pretty even 1:46.0 for 1st 500, 1:46.8 2nd

Cheers eh!,
