Well, they all come in a rush, don't they?
About 2 weeks back, finally broke 6:40 for the 2k, a long time goal. This gave me the courage to go for a h/m, and while I was a bit disappointed, 1:20:25.4 is a new PB (was after that 1:20:00 level, of course).
Those half marathons are different from everything else, I find: the last 20 mins at 1:57 was what did for it, but my knackered arms could not manage it in any way.
Then this week: my biggest bugbear, the 6k, finally vanquished, in 21:22.8 which was 14 seconds better. This meant I felt relaxed about the 1k yesterday, though 2 PB's like that meant today's, the hour, in 16014, was a few metres down on what it could have been.
Pity, because getting into the top 10% for every distance by end year was the goal. Still, what fun!
Thanks for listening . . .
