Haha, I'm kicking myself harder for not pitching TO to you!!!Jbrown1215 wrote: ↑February 28th, 2025, 12:04 pmGlad you’ve found a team to join (although I’m kicking myself not pitching you on Sub7 sooner!). No doubt you’re in great company with Team Oarsome. Looking forward to seeing your name on the CTC boards.
You did great, Anthony! Was a pleasure to support you and see how straight and consistent you worked to get your target!ahooton wrote: ↑March 1st, 2025, 7:48 pmHi all. A very satisfying PB to post.

The final 10k of this was up there with the most physically and mentally hardest things I’ve ever done. There is a no way I’d have completed this without being in the environment and support of the people there.
Huge shout out to Sascha Klyz who kept me going through the darker moments. It was truly a dig deep and slog it out workout.
Thanks Sascha.
The log is well out of sync, but regardless, a huge well done. A sub 2:50 is massive, you've clearly built quite an engine this winter. Coupled with a dose of mental resilience!ahooton wrote: ↑March 1st, 2025, 7:48 pmHi all. A very satisfying PB to post.

That is a huge PB and you're training for the last 10k, not the first 32k. It can be a truly horrible moment, but it looks like you managed it very well. Well done Anthonyahooton wrote: ↑March 1st, 2025, 7:48 pmHi all. A very satisfying PB to post.

This is borderline rude the PBs that you're smashing out, almost, with ease!! Huge result Justin, and it's great to see you thoroughly reaping the benefits of your hard work.Jbrown1215 wrote: ↑March 7th, 2025, 1:14 amA quick visit to the pain cave for the World Rowing Virtual Indoor Sprints 1k today...
As this has (intentionally) been a big volume week (103k rowed in 4 days), I was a bit nervous going into this one as I didn't exactly feel "fresh", but I had to get it done this afternoon with a busy weekend ahead. Stuck to my race plan (hold r38 the whole way, settle into 1:27s within the first 5-6 strokes) and just barely hung on to snag another PB, which makes it 6 age-group PBs (4 of which are lifetime PBs!) in the last 30 days.Code: Select all

Need to ride this wave and give the 500m a go sometime soon but may have to wait a week or two...

That's a great result, well done. As you know I'm a fellow beginner so take all this with a pinch of salt, but Id recommend not overthinking it. Whatever you do now differently will only change a tiny fraction of the result. Trust the process and build on the hard slow rate work. I think it's probably more physical than mental - you can't *quite* sustain 2:07 for more than 18/19 minutes, but you will! So I think you have 3 choices - 1- accept that you are going past your limit and this will happen every week until your fitness inevitably catches up. 2- slow down a smidge to 2:09(?) and try and finish strong. Or 3 - back off the time again to around 18 minutes and build up from there within your current capability. Any of these will help if you repeat them and build on them, it's just a question of which one is psychologically best for you. But this was a good performance and don't focus on the perceived negatives.PleaseLockIn wrote: ↑March 10th, 2025, 2:04 amEven though I almost gave up in the end - any tips on finishing the final bit?
