Today I did the Valentine's Challenge (2 minutes and 14 seconds all-out) on the SkiErg. I am very happy with the result, but noticed afterwards that my heart rate stayed relatively low. More specifically, my HR started at 97 bpm and over the duration of the exercise gradually ramped up to 132 bpm. This surprises me because my aerobic (ventilatory) threshold has been lab-tested at 122 bpm, and my anaerobic threshold at 148 bpm. My maximum HR is 171 bpm.
So my question is: during anaerobic efforts, over what time interval would one expect the HR to ramp up beyond the anaerobic threshold? Could this take more than 2 minutes? Or should I suspect my HR monitor (Polar Verity Sense) to be faulty?

HR ramp-up during short anaerobic bursts
I run in the mud, I sweat on the erg, and I happily battle the years...

Hard to say - you may be incredibly fit, or the Ski Erg may have a different cost to the RowErg that I don't know about! Of course just over 2 mins is nowhere near long enough to get into the upper reaches of HR but I'd have expected well into AT at full beans. My MHR also 171. On my ranked Row Erg 1k I only got up to 157 by the end - but I was into Threshold after 1 min.

No experience of Skierg, but I don't think 2:14 is purely anaerobic. On Rowerg it is generally assumed there is an aerobic component to a 500M so well below 2 min. Not familiar with Polar Verity, but is this an HR belt? If it is not then many have found they under record.
