For now, I will say that after being involved in competitive cycling for roughly 40 years, it seems to attract a more egocentric population. Take that however you would like.
Hahaha, we have some of that too, but thankfully they are definitely in the minority and don't spend time on the forum.
To be fair, it could be due to us being amateurs, and the added complication of professionalism could, I assume, quite easily be a big difference in how people behave. A dog eat dog type of scenario.
Hey Dangerscouse...I took the plunge on a WOD today... regretting it after the first two...

You're on the first page of four - that's worth some satisfaction, no matter how much regret there was at the time...

First time with only socks for this one... initial impression was I felt like I was finally getting something from my legs. Gonna see what happens with this for now.

Agree with Ombrax, that's a solid result, and as I'm sure you know from your cycling, regret is an ever present uninvited guest, but there's a very thin line between the glory and the gory.
The WR holder for 2k rows barefoot so just socks os definitely an option, just not something that I can work with.

I use Five Fingers KSO minimalist shoes. (and row strapless)

Having said that, IMO it's unlikely that the switch from your "regular" exercise shoes to only socks would have such a dramatic effect. But absolutely, if you prefer it, then dump the shoes.

Barefoot...Hmmm... hadn't thought of that...but thanks for telling me. I wore thin cycling socks today.

Don't forget... I'm only a novice at this, so small changes might be temporarily magnified. I love those five finger shoes... another great idea... thanks.
