After that I did chest flies, bench press, hamstring curls etc. even though I am genuinely very weak.
I think doing say one set of weights before the row can benefit the row. Obviously too much weights before the row will weaken you.
When the row is not a test piece there is the theory that weights before the endurance exercise is the right order of things.
Any sources for this theory? If so I would do 1 set of weights, especially for antagonist muscles.
1:59.x 30r20 from my standard is very large over 2 months... I am considering switching to the Pete Plan 5k entirely in order to make it in time. This would require me to erg ~50k/wk but I believe if I slow the steady state sessions a little bit, and pace the intervals correctly, I can make it.
I did get away with doing a 5k in a non-terrible time after only rowing 2k... but on the other hand the BPP is 24 weeks for a reason...
