Steady state with „just row“. Ended up at 7500m exactly:

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
40:05.2 7,500m 2:40.3 85 592 17 135
5:00.0 937m 2:40.0 85 593 17 127
10:00.0 936m 2:40.2 85 592 17 130
15:00.0 938m 2:39.9 86 594 18 132
20:00.0 934m 2:40.5 84 590 17 135
25:00.0 938m 2:39.9 86 594 17 139
30:00.0 937m 2:40.0 85 593 17 141
35:00.0 932m 2:40.9 84 588 18 139

40:05.1 13m 3:16.1 46 459 0 139

As batteries were very low for at least two month (resting HR up to 68) I‘m happy to be back on track now (HR 57).

After ~2k warmup and some hard stroke bursts afterwards, I attacked the 1k CTC again, but bailed at ca. 500m.
Despite a full rest day my legs were pumped up fast and strength was not on point today. Not feeling so good last days, but wanted to try anyway.
At least some first meters for the holiday challenge

After my old faithful laptop appeared to have died, my mind wasn't really on wanting to row (need to decide on a new gaming rig and demote the ultrabook to admin or dig out my not quite as old linux laptop for my admin tasks)

supposed to be a 45min SS but just bailed on it....

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
15:02.5 3,290m 2:17.1 136 766 23 164

used it as warm up to hit some sprints though.... supposed to be 500m to start but also bailed

0:18.9 200m 1:34.5 415 1727 38 175

Didn't make the 350m I put in on the next attempt either, but hit 469W (1.30.7) on my 7th stroke which I think is my best - so I've still got some of my power but zero stamina....

Put in my first meters for the 2024 Holiday Challenge: 2500m on the SkiErg and 1000m on the BikeErg. Looks like I've got a long way to go to hit 100k!

It's been a minute since I've been on; hopefully will be able to catch up on the post over the weekend. Long story short - traveled away from home for work on 11/13 in the afternoon, tentatively scheduled to go home on 12/11. Another 4 weeks away with no erg and no access to any real equipment other than some treadmills and a pull up bar, therefore making due. I won't be posting all of the data from my training over the last few weeks but I will say I've seen some nice progress, whether it be lower average HR for similar work, more volume in the same amount of time, or even a bit of a PR. BW is still pretty steady.

11/14 - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/15 - Incline Treadmill Walk; 60:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/16 - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/17 (am) - Incline Treadmill Walk; 60:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/17 (pm) - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/18 - Incline Treadmill Walk; 60:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/19 - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/20 - Incline Treadmill Walk; 75:00, 8% incline, 4mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/21 - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/22 - Incline Treadmill Walk; 60:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/23 (am) - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/23 (pm) - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

11/24 - Incline Treadmill Walk; 90:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

11/24 (pm) - Strength Work; 125 pull-ups, 250 push-ups, 375 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 75:00.

Holiday challenge day 2...
...thought I would wind back the clock and try a 1k pyramid, i.e. 100, 200,300.... 1000, and back down on 1r.
What's the phrase - something about writing cheques your body can't cash.. I had burnt all my matches after doing the 1000 and binned coming back down again  sloped off to the spin bike followed by some light dumbbells and finally a even 2000m to finish.

I felt shockingly fatigued this morning and had a very rare long lie in. Two days in Edinburgh for a work conference and late nights drinking clearly didn't agree with me.

Absolutely no chance I could have done my intended 1k TT for the CTC, so i just zoned out and did some, also very rare late(ish) erging. 16:00 start is late for me.

I did 13k of which 3k were faster. My idea is to build the distance up week by week but keep the pace at around 1:57. Even after 3k I felt tired and needed a nap in the afternoon.

Tried the team challenge again, 9x750m.
Bailed after 5th, when I needed to stop in the middle and be honest to me that it won't happen today. Legs gave up early today.

Code: Select all

12:25.7	3,750m	1:39.4	356	1525	29	166

2:31.8	750m	1:41.2	338	1462	29	167
Afterwards I programmed a 5k for cooldown on lower drag and to get some meters in. Soon I realized I wanted some more harder meters and ramped up the pace on r20 with negative splitting.

Did long intervals today: 4x2k 4‘r
Felt quite drained after the 3rd interval but luckily decided to finish the piece as I discovered unknown energy reserves:

Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
36:32.4 8,000m 2:17.0 136 768 24 174
9:08.2 2,000m 2:17.0 136 767 24 167

r: 4:00 13m
9:09.9 2,000m 2:17.4 135 763 24 176
r: 4:00 17m
9:04.6 2,000m 2:16.1 139 777 25 180
r49m

Averaged 0.3s faster than last time but with a slightly longer rest period (4‘ instead of 3‘). Was quite pleased with that.

11/30 - Groundhog Day.

AM - Incline Treadmill Walk; 60:00, 15% incline, 3mph, 10kg weighted pack.

PM - Strength Work; 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 walking lunges (per leg) w/ 10kg vest in 60:00.

I finally have the date I will be heading home and will be home for the forseeable future. Training will be going back to 1x a day most days of the week as I'll still be working, just from home, and will be doing everything I can to be present with my boys and their activities. I will be back to being focused on erging and will likely focus my strength work on deadlifts as they have been tabled for the last several months due to lack of equipment. That said, there is a chain of gyms here in the US with locations pretty well everywhere that typically have free weights (barbells and plates) and from what I can tell in scrolling through various locations photos, have ergs in a lot of locations. My company will help reimburse gym membership costs so I may pick up a membership in the event that I am away from home for more than a few days again to ensure training can stay on track. I did what I could for the last two months and will do so for a few more weeks but don't want to be in this position again.
