Newbie - PM4 Custom Workout help???

Post by Pogue » April 11th, 2024, 11:47 am

Hi all,

I have a Model D with a PM4.

My son's coach is starting him on the following workout:
Session 1:
TWENTY SECONDS 80 watts
REST 1 MINS 40 watts
REPEAT 8 TIMES

I've tried making a Custom Workout using Interval Time.
This is my log result from testing (only did 2 intervals, and made rest 20sec, for test)
Intervals
Time Meters Pace Watts Cal/Hr S/M
0:40.0 113m 2:56.9 63 517 24
0:20.0 49m 3:24.0 41 441 24
0:20.0 64m 2:36.2 92 615 24
r396m

My issue is, how do I log the Watts during Rest?
If I set this up using Variable Intervals, would I have to manually enter 16 Intervals?

Thanks

If you set that up as 16 variable intervals the PM4 will record that. The "resting at 40 watts" is not resting, it's rowing gently.

Set it up as twenty seconds then one minute and repeat that eight times.

One thing that may help: The easiest way IMO to repeat a workout once you've done it is to use the "ReRow" feature. And if you chase your previous performance you can use the Pace Boat display to race yourself.

You can also save specific workouts, but in order to do that you have to use either a Log Card or a USB drive - see link below for more info - for me it's easier to just do a ReRow.
