Checking Distance at Logbook Time Points

I hope this is the right section to post this. If not, I apologize.

Our command presence test requires that we complete a 2,000 meter row for time as part of the evaluation. Recently I have been training with several Tabata workouts, and I would like to see where I am hitting the 2,000 meter mark in different workouts. Unfortunately, when I log into the Concept2 Online Logbook, I can't hover over different time points and see how many meters I had rowed at that time in the graph.

Is there a way to see that information? Essentially, I would like to scroll along as see my meters at any point along the timeline. If not, is there a way to do it by downloading the data in a different format?

Yes, if I understand what you're asking. It sounds like you're already on the right page in the logbook if you are seeing the graphs. Right before the graphs, you should see a header saying "Download Stroke Data". If you download as a CSV, columns include elapsed time in seconds for each of the individual strokes, as well as total meters. If you're doing intervals, the total meters will reset at the beginning of each interval.

However, hitting a standalone 2k is a completely different beast than totaling 2k in hard interval work, if you haven't done both. People will try to predict a 2k pace based on a few different benchmark workouts, but it is a guessing game and everything I can think of there includes longer intervals than tabata workouts do. I'm really not sure that you can extrapolate.

Echoing what Elizabeth said, imo the minimum distance you need to do to get close to what a 2k feels like is the 1k x 4 reps.

Ideally, I'd suggest doing longer 1250, 1500 intervals, or a sub-max 2k, as anything shorter could very easily feel really tough, but it's not a comparable type of tough

Thank you both, not only for the answer to my original question, but for the insight.

Right now, even during Tabata workouts I can hit an acceptable test percentile, but of course want to do better than just that. I just don't want to try to go full bore, non-stop and end up lowering my time by crashing. I'm not 21 anymore. lol

We have to fail to succeed.
Rarely does someone hit the perfect pace all the way through invariably we finish thinking we could have gone faster sooner so left a second or two ‘in the machine’, or we went to fast to soon and so slowed too much at the end.
If you have a time by taking a 2k section out of another workout then try rowing that at even pace all the way through. You should then get a sense of it being a x% effort. OR pick it up for the last 200m and you should shave a bit off. Use that new time as your base and try it again in a week or so.
You’ll get to a point where you fail to beat your previous time, but that could be for many reasons specific to that time - tiredness, overtraining, changed/poor recent diet, temperature, mind not on it.
