It's a low profile mouthpiece that supposedly has some research behind it with respect to improving performance in cardiovascular related events/activities.

It seems gimmicky to me but I wanted to see if anyone has messed around with it.
Airwaav - has anyone tried?

No experience, but I guess it's aimed at those that bite down as they dig deep, so this gives more chance for more air to get in - I guess.
That said - as I grind my teeth at night, and have worn a number of different styles of mouthpiece at night, I can't personally see that anything in my mouth would aid performance for me vs an open/unrestricted mouth.

Re: Airwaav - has anyone tried?
So this would need you to row with a closed mouth?
I can see the theoretical benefits ie more nasal breathing, but in reality I'd expect that it would take a long time to get used to it, as you'll instinctively open your mouth when it gets really rough.
I do try and nasal breathe as much as possible in normal life, but I still can't master it for too long on the erg.
FWIW, you reminded me about a cheap deep breathing lung exerciser (Respi-ex) that I have just bought, so I'll let you know how that goes. I'm a bit concerned about my lung capacity post-Covid so I probably need to do something about it.

Re: Airwaav - has anyone tried?
Some may recall the old Powerbreathe which, while not now front page news, was sold in the world wide web era. Spring loaded valve in a small canister and a snorkel mouthpiece. Touted as promoting diaphragmatic breathing and thoracic volume. I don’t remember a suggestion that it should or could be used during aerobic exercise. That would REALLY suck imo. I was never much for shotgunning fly spray either.

Re: Airwaav - has anyone tried?
I am that guy who is always looking at new gear and stuff, being cynical while also hopeful lol
I got an Airwaav on sale. I got the HIIT version rather than endurance one. The differences seems minimal from what I could gather via research
I have to admit I really do like it. I am not sure if you have ever tried mouth taping while you sleep but I would describe the effects as similar.
I really do feel as if my airway is more open and I tend to get a better workout in. Placebo? It’s possible, but I legitimately think this thing helps significantly.
I have mine and continue to use it pretty much daily. Hope that helps

Definitely appreciate everyone's input! I do a lot of nasal breathing and don't have issues during sleep or things like that. I may just bite the bullet (pun intended) and grab the endurance version to try.
