Looking good! How long in between each session, on average? 6 month? It's awesome looking at your gains.
Today was BPP 20.3. I didn't follow the script b/c I wanted to complete the Tour De SkiErg Challenge weekly piece.
Thanks! The time difference is about 4-5 months - I've mostly done the next workout from the plan every day, since I was aiming to finish BPP & do a HM before my birthday (yes, it did get a bit straining in the end - but I did meet that goal). After the hard work of final few weeks & HM the 5k of week 1 seemed like warmup - so I just restarted the plan right away. First few weeks of the second run-through definitely felt like rest, haha.
An interesting aspect that numbers don't really show is in how focus changes over time - when I just started out, just getting through the distance was an achievement in itself, later I started keeping an eye on pace and tried to match/improve, then later when I got the heart rate monitor training to a specific HR limit became a focus - and seeing the pace vary based on factors like food or sleep or caffeination level as a side effect was fascinating. Now on the second run it's fun to compare to the first run - but just pace numbers don't take into account these other things that may significantly skew the pace. Latest example of something I decided to do yesterday - for steady state pieces, I'm going to REALLY try to fix my body position with intentional focus (solid strong core & back during the drive, really straight back during recovery, no hunching at the catch & no leaning beyond 11 o'clock at the end of the drive). All that takes more effort than "relaxed" smooth strokes I do now (which have the sequence correct - but body position leaves some to be desired). More effort = heart rate climbs, to counteract that I try to take it easier and my pace drops... Yesterday was the first time I alternated 10 strokes straight back super form focused -> 10 strokes sloppy to slow down the heart, and the pace/heart rate graph really shows it, haha. Today I plan on 11 strokes super focused - 10 relaxed, next time 12/10 and so forth until hopefully the focused correct form becomes the norm and I don't need to "rest" from it by being sloppier
As to following the script - we're doing this for ourselves, no harm in rearranging order or adjusting as needed

@btswims I so relate to parenting duties interruptions

. It is definitely more important, and we can catch up on the workout a bit later. Solid sessions though, nice work keeping that heart rate steady!
