Hi All,
Just recently did a 1k 24 r erg test and was wondering how this translated to 2k. Does this give a rough idea of 2k split from anybody's experience and if so how close was it.
Thanks,
Will

Re: 1 k 24 r erg
You typically add 5 seconds to your pace for each time the distance doubles (it is known as Paul's Law). This is a guestimate that more ir less holds on average. For me, it is around 3.5 seconds.

Re: 1 k 24 r erg
There are a few variables in a 1k @r24 so it's not massively helpful imo.
I'd agree that five seconds is about right, it is for me anyway, but that is for a no restrictions 1k TT, and the r24 is a curveball, that will be specific to you if you're more suited to lower, higher or medium stroke rates.
Ideally you'll use r30+, but in reality r26 or r24 might be as high as you can go, and your efficiency stays steady or decreases as you go to a higher stroke rate, and double the distance. Therefore a 1k r24 session probably won't be transferable to an all out 2k.
The best way to know, is to a 2k, or to do some relevant intervals to really test you, as there can be, and usually is, a world of difference in that second 1k.

These calculators are not that accurate, but can be fun.
Plug in two measurements here and it'll guess the 2K time. 1K and 5K would be perfect. https://www.freespiritsrowing.com/forum ... -predictor
Plug in your 1K here and then click 2K on the bottom: https://www.machars.net/ultimate.php Harder to use, but you can figure it out.
https://www.cavanhagan.com/rowing-calculator needs 100m and 5k
Power / wattage profile here: https://ergrowing.com/2k-erg-power-profile-calculator/
The RANKING DATABASE is also fun. Target the 50% for your age group and row it. https://log.concept2.com/rankings

Re: 1 k 24 r erg
I did an r24 1k, once. It was about 3 splits faster than my 2k.

Re: 1 k 24 r erg
As the 1k was a test, presumably you used your full stroke. For a 2k you need to learn to pull that same stroke, but at rate 30 up. Just do the sums: if it was a 10W' stroke (= Power/Rating ratio), 10*30 = 300W. Might take a few days practice, 2k is a long way, so results depend heavily on endurance.Just recently did a 1k 24 r erg test and was wondering how this translated to 2k.
Otherwise you need to do the 1k test flat out. The power ratio to 2k will be about 84% if you have trained. Normally rate 24 work as used in training for 2k would be borderline UT1-AT, such as 3x 7 minutes or so, full stroke.
